Te Roopu Taurima O Manukau Trust The largest kaupapa maori provider of services for intellectually disabled people in NZ A certified and accredited Health provider A registered charitable trust since 1999 Provide services from Kaitaia to Tokoroa and and top half of the South Island to over 150 clients or “mokopuna”

  4. Services Residential facilities for mokopuna with High and Complex needs (RIDSAS) Residential facilities for mokopuna requiring longer term care Vocational services, Nga Mahi o te Ra Awhi Whanau, family support, respite services Tikanga fundamental to the delivery of services

  5. Organisation structure Head Office in Auckland CEO and Executive Team Administrative services based in Auckland Offices in Northland, Hamilton, Christchurch Employ approx 450 full time staff 45 Residences with 180 mokopuna and we are growing...

  7. 2006 – Business challenges Branch offices in Hamilton and Northland Employing approx 400 full time staff Organisation growing since 2004 Newly established Executive Team Unreliable IT infrastructure Accreditation pending in 2007

  8. 2006 – IT Infrastructure Inconsistent server and pc infrastructure PC’s and servers near end of life No dedicated server room or infrastructure Non-standard and poor networks Lack of data security Lack of internal IT resources Lack of Capex to fund infrastructure upgrade

  9. IT Solution Requirements • Had to provide • Robust and scalable architecture • Consistent hardware and software experience • Secure and managed networks and servers • Backups and disaster recovery facilities • Technical Support services • Avoid the cost of a large capital spend

Reviewed three models • In house model • Environmental, resource and redundancy issues • Outsourced model • Required large capex spend and solution was inflexible • Utility computing model • No large capital outlay • Access to secure and latest technologies • Secure and managed networks and servers • Backups and disaster recovery facilities

  11. 2007 – Implementation New One Office networks to all sites New pc’s and laptops at all sites New Terminal servers with network apps New Exchange and SQL servers Remote access for laptop users via VPN Wireless access points at all sites New multifunctional printing devices

  12. Transforming the business IT far more stable and secure Staff are more productive Data loss minimised Change is staff habits Focus on strategic issues Opened new offices Christchurch & Hamilton

  13. 2008 – A platform for growth User base has grown by 66% Deployed 20% more disk space Deployed new server for replacement of Financials and HR systems Plans to deploy servers for Microsoft OWA, Live Communication Server and SharePoint Plans to open two more regional offices Plans to virtualise more servers in the future
