  1. Peter Paul Halajian formed the Peter Paul Candy Manufacturing Company in New Haven, Connecticut in 1919. The first candy bar was made with chocolate, nuts, coconuts and fruit and was called the Konabar. All of his products were made at night because it was very cool and it would be fresh to sell the next day. In 1920 the Mounds candy bar was made and it contained dark chocolate with coconut. Peter Paul faced major shortages of sugar and coconut during World War II because the Philippines shipped the resources to them. Before the war, Peter Paul concentrated less on the Mounds candy bar and decided to make new candy bars. He created the Almond Joy and York Peppermint Pattie until the war would end he would continue making the Mound candy bar. Peter Paul’s company was bought by the Hershey candy company in 1988. Now Mounds candy bar and Almond Joy are made by the Hershey company. They are now major candy bars that are bought around America. These candy bars are for all ages that will be known for a very long time. Do you have a sweet tooth. Do you like chocolate and coconut. Do you have change in your pocket. Then Mounds candy bar is right for you. Yum Yum! Peter Paul Halajian was very intrested in candy making and he wanted to make a candy bar for all people to enjoy especially the people that are poor or had little with kids. So he made them very cheap and easy for people to get.
