  4. Planning Starts Here… What are my options? Select your starting point Starting at or with a fresh install of CC 6.1 Yes • Upgrade from the existing CC 5.2 or CC 6.0 • What you need to know: • Upgrade to ControlCenter 6.1 using the new CD media marked as version A02. This can be downloaded from Powerlink or requested through Software Refresh • After completing the upgrade to CC 6.1, apply an Agent Upgrade to the Symmetrix and SDM Agents before applying UB5 for support of Enginuity 5670 and lower. • See Note for continued support No Upgrading from CC 6.0 CC 5.2 Yes

Make the changes Symmetrix Management Gather the Symmetrix uCode versions for Symmetrix to be managed Decision is made based on the uCodes of the managed Symmetrix • Where the Symmetrix uCode is 5670 and lower, ControlCenter management is through Solutions Enabler 6.5 • UB5 and later requires Solutions Enabler 7.x and only supports uCode 5671 and higher • Different Symmetrix and SDM Agent combinations on separate hosts may be needed. All Arrays running uCode 5671 or higher No Yes • Based on the uCodes of the managed Symmetrix • In a mixed Symmetrix uCode environment, management must be done from separate Agent Server configuration Symmetrix with uCode 5671 and higher need to be managed with UB5 and later. These Symmetrix and SDM Agents require SE 7.x with SMC 7.x All Symmetrix with uCode less then 5671 need to be managed with pre-UB5 Symmetrix and SDM Agents with SE 6.x with SMC 6.x All Symmetrix with uCode 5671 and higher need to be managed with UB5 and later. Solutions Enabler 7 has dropped support for some databases • Informix (all versions) • Sybase 12 (All Platforms) • Sybase 12.5 on Solaris • Supported Databases with SE 7 • MS SQL • UDB on AIX 5.3 & 6.1 • Sybase 12.5 on HP-UX • What you need to know: • Pre-UB5 CMA with SE 6.5 provides support for these Databases - Informix, Sybase 12. (See support matrix and SE7 Release Notes) • UB5 CMA and SE 7.x supports – UDB on AIX 5.3 and 6.1, Sybase 12.5 on HP-UX & MS SQL If: Informix Sybase Gather Databases versions being monitored Yes No

Maintainability Support Providing backward compatibility • How ongoing support for pre-UB5 Symmetrix and SDM Agents will be provided • New native Install Package at a 6.1.0.4.x version will be created. This new package will include the ability to install: • Master Agent • Host Agent • Symmetrix Agent • SDM Agent • Common Mapping Agent • Oracle Agent Note: ControlCenter Engineering will release a native install package that includes Symmetrix and SDM Agents at the 6.1.0.4.x version Proceed after all the conditions stated here are understood and/or resolved

  11. Pre-UB5 Checklist

Final pre-install checks Step for success… • Download the following: • UB5 – CC • MRLK7 – CC_4614 • April STS OCPU – CC_4601 • April Repository OCPU – CC_4063 • Native install package for pre-UB5 Symmetrix and SDM agent is not available yet. • If SSL is disabled, this configuration will not change when applying UB5 • Run lsnrctl status • If port is 1575 – SSL is enabled • If port is 1521 – SSL is disabled • Verify ample Disk Space to make multiple copies of ControlCenter • Install HF4563 which is the new backup and Restore scripts for CC 6.1 • If upgrading from an earlier CC version, use the appropriate Backup & restore scripts

  13. Extra Steps for Success • Check the security settings of the ewallet.p12 file • Add administrators if not present, run this command • cacls %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\dbsafe\ewallet.p12 /e /g Administrators:F • Run ecc_getversion • Run emcsts_getversion • Login as local ECCADMIN with Administrator rights • Make sure all other Terminal Sessions are logged off and disconnected • Make sure all other Command Prompt windows and Explorer windows are closed.

Recommended Post UB5 Actions • Upgrade ALL Consoles to UB5 • Apply UB5 to all Performance Manager GUI Client locations • Make sure you apply UB5 Symmetrix and SDM agents to the agents that need to patched ONLY • Make sure you apply UB5 CMA to the agents that need to patched ONLY • Apply the latest OCPU Patched to the CC Repository and StorageScope Repository • Run a database export for ControlCenter and STS Repositories • After ControlCenter is operation at the latest level and all patches are applied, run 4563 backaup.bat and copy the ECC and ECCbackup directory to capture a new recovery point.
