What are Scissor Lifts? • Scissor Lift is a powerful mechanical device which is generally used to lift up the machines, loads as well as workmen to reach at specific heights. • These lifts are basically elevated work platforms which can can be controlled through hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical power to reach at certain heights. • As scissor lifts are high powerful machines so it is required to keep safe workmen at the workplace during the operations. To ensure safety at the workplace SafeWork NSW has made it required for the operators to get aScissor Lift Licence.

What is Scissor Lift Licence? • Scissor Lift Licence is a certificate which allows people to operate scissor lifts with in Sydney and other regions. • Scissor Lift Licence is High Risk Work Licence which is required to Work Safely at Heights is certificate which indicates the person has been trained and know how to operate scissors lifts. • Scissor Lift Licence is issued by the SafeWork NSW to show that the concerned person is eligible to operate a Boom Lift Scissor Lift. Without scissor lift licence, employer will allow you to operate a scissor lift at the workplace for the safety of other employees.

  4. How to get a Scissor Lift Licence? • In order to get a scissor lift licence, you have to visit your nearest recognized training organisation to enroll under the Scissor Lift Course. • You have to pass the basic training and assessment during the course in order to become eligible for the licence. Also, there are few prerequisites associated with with the course which need to be followed. • The applicant should be at least 18 years of age and they have to provide 100 points of identification as per SafeWork NSW standards.

  5. How to Renew a Scissor Lift Licence? • Your high risk work licence will come with a validity of 3-5 years. • Two months before your licence is due to expire NSW WorkCover will send you an application to renew your licence. • After completing your form and submitting it to your local Australian Post Office with renewal fee you’ll get your renewed scissor lift licence.
