WHAT IS IT ABOUT ? • Examples: • Current production line (partly or totally) is transferred to an new or existing plant or building, in the same or other country, • Change of a tier n, part of the process such as surface treatment, machining, paint shop, warehousing… • New production layout • Packaging changes or repackaging operations, • Tier 2 change and more generally any tier n change that concerns the product • Renewal of current tooling • Change of raw material • Outsourcing permanently part of the production to a tier2 • Request for product design changes such as dimensions, functions, appearance, …. The objective: • Secure that, when YOU, as a supplier, are implementing a modification • Quality and Delivery issues are secured • it also benefits to the Volvo Group (price management, global costs) • Respect the purchasing conditions Product Process Change Notification – April 2011

WHAT IS IT ABOUT ? • Both ISO/TS 16949 and PPAP 4th edition are clear: A supplier is not allowed to make any changes on the product or in the process that can have an effect for the customer without prior approval from the customer. This includes: • change of sub-suppliers • change of machines or way of producing the parts • reworking non-conforming parts • change to design of the part to name a few examples Product Process Change Notification – April 2011

Inform Volvo on the FORESEEN modifications 1 PPCN Form Get approval from the VOLVO Group on supplier modification: Quality and Delivery risks are solved 2 Inform supplier on approved application date SQA, PD engineers, Plant supply, Logistic, 3 Supplier Buyer "PRODUCT /PROCESS CHANGE NOTIFICATION" form is an international standard form issued from the PPAP.
