NexStar High Speed Multiplexer

NexStar High Speed Multiplexer. New NexStar with S-NET, RS-485 and RS-232 capabilities. Handles Home-Run S-NET Reader wiring like conventional NexStar. Provides RS-232 to RS-485 conversion for Star Controller networking. Allows RS-232 multiplexing at the same time as RS-485.

  1. NexStar High Speed Multiplexer New NexStar with S-NET, RS-485 and RS-232 capabilities. • Handles Home-Run S-NET Reader wiring like conventional NexStar. • Provides RS-232 to RS-485 conversion for Star Controller networking. • Allows RS-232 multiplexing at the same time as RS-485.

  2. The new High Speed NexStar is Baud rate transparent at up to 38,400 baud. It also supports optional RS-232 port converters for anywhere from one to all five ports. This allows it to be used for any combination of RS-485 and RS-232 networking from a Host system to legacy and new ACUs. It is particularly useful for connecting the new Star Controllers to a host via their RS-485 port.

  3. Example Drawings • S-NET Multiplexing for MIRO and Reader wiring. • RS-232 to RS-485 conversion for Host to Star Controller networking. • RS-232 to both RS-485 and RS-232 ACU Networking. • RS-232 to RS-485 ACUs, and RS-232 to CoBox Master Ethernet converter.

  4. The NexStar High Speed unit will support up to 8 Readers, 8 Keypads and 8 MIRO devices in an S-NET multiplexing application. (All S-NET ports must run at 9600 baud and are not user selectable.) It will support up to 16 ACUs in any combination of RS-485 and RS-232 wiring up to any limits supported by a specific Host system. NSM and StarGaze support up to 16 controllers on each poller port. NOTE: Each ACU needs its own Power Supply. The NexStar should NOT be used to distribute power. Current applications require 24-28VDC for all ACUs and peripheral components.
