Area III Accomplishments PARENTAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT • East Clayton Elementary • March of Dimes/Pennies for Patients-(Leukemia ) • Morrow Elementary • Taste of Morrow Community Event • Edmonds Elementary • Wal-Mart Community Clean Up • Forest Park Clean Up (Pack 4495) • Ms. Lucas’ Special Ed class was awarded a state of the art high chair from Forest Park City Council and Fire Dept

Area III Accomplishments PARENTAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT • Fountain Elementary • First Army of Forest Park provided mentorship and Christmas gifts to every student in the school • Fountain Jr. Beta Club members presented a holiday concert for Governor Perdue at Governor Glenn’s Mansion • King Elementary • King of Kings mentoring program • Feed the Homeless Day • Special Olympics Partnership with Clayton County Sheriff Dept.

Area III Accomplishments PARENTAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT • West Clayton Elementary • New parent center • Art displayed at The Bethel School House (Clayton County’s last one room school house) and at Fiesta De Riverdale • Babb Middle • More than 1000 hours of parent and community volunteers • Over $5,000 for charitable contributions for Breast Cancer Awareness, Earthquake Victims in Japan, Hosea Feed the Hungry, Relay for Life, March of Dimes, American Red Cross, Children’s Network, and Holiday Drives

Area III Accomplishments PARENTAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT • Elite Scholars • Increased Partners in Education by 50% • Donated more than $600 to Salvation Army, Adopted Family, American Heart Association, and March of Dimes North Clayton Middle School • Partners in Education increased by 70%. • PTA membership significantly increased • Adamson Middle • Hosted “Boys Night Out” Male Mentoring Event

Area III Accomplishments PARENTAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT • Babb Middle School • Spanish-speaking interpreter, Leyla Richards, provided tutoring, community resources, and guidance to the 250 Spanish-speaking families Morrow High School • Opened a parental resource room and provided a series of parental workshops Forest Park High School • Established a FPHS Alumni Association with over 500 members

Area III Accomplishments STAFF RECOGNITIONS Northcutt Elementary • Leondria Gray’s 3rd grade homeroom class exceeded the CRCT AMO in all five subject areas with a 90% or above Anderson Elementary • Julie Owens 5th grade teacher, winner of A+ Grant • 5th grade students won 1st runner up for Disney Planet Challenge • 4th grade teachers chosen to present at National Social Studies Conference in Washington DC • 4th grade teacher team’s article will be published in National Council of Social Studies Teachers

Area III Accomplishments STAFF RECOGNITIONS Lake City Elementary • Natasha Clarke-Grant, 2011 Clayton County Teacher of the Year Finalist • Kelly Veal, 2010-2011 Principal of the Year Huie Elementary • Gifted In-Field endorsed teachers increased by 50% • ESOL certified teachers increased by 60% Fountain Elementary • Barbara Justice received Media Liaison Award

  12. Area III Accomplishments STAFF RECOGNITIONS King Elementary • Six staff members earned higher degrees • Two teachers recognized by Martin L. King, Jr. International Rose Garden of Peace Committee for student entries Babb Middle School • Principal Brown and Dr. Brown received a perfect score on a SACS’ presentation at the SACS Regional Conference. • Eleven staff members earned higher degrees North Clayton Middle School • Ms. La-Trice Alston awarded Falcon’s Hero in the Classroom

Area III Accomplishments STAFF RECOGNITIONS Forest Park Middle School • Sarah Tate, 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, recognized as Master Teacher by the State of Georgia North Clayton High School • CTAE Teacher Lawrence Poindexter received National TSA Elite Scholars Academy • Jeffrey Dinkins Language Arts classes earned 100% on the 8th grade CRCT Reading and 97% on the 8th Grade Writing Assessment • 53% of the staff are Gifted Endorsed and 15% are earning higher degrees

Area III Accomplishments STAFF RECOGNITIONS Morrow High School • Outstanding ROTC Instructors Award Forest Park High School • Stephanie Byrd earned the 1,000 A+ Mini-Grant • Gerald Yavo awarded Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars • Tavene Moore won the Jones of New York Teacher Make-Over • Tavene Moore will present, “Creating Standards- Based Rubrics for Your World Language Classes” at the Annual Southern Conference on Language Teaching

Area III Accomplishments STUDENT RECOGNITIONS East Clayton Elementary • Hear Our Voices Essay Winner (Jordan Miller) • Two First Place County Science Fair winners (Miles Pierre and Jordan McMillan) • Two SCORE students qualified for and enrolled in Duke Talent Identification Program (Brytni Andrews and Peyton Holston) Lake City Elementary • Hear Our Voices Speech-1st place winner (Whitnee Nichols) • Clayton County Honors Chorus- 6 participants

Area III Accomplishments STUDENT RECOGNITIONS Huie Elementary • 5th Grade writing scores rose from 55% to 71% meeting or exceeding the standard • Two students won the Clayton County All County Art Competition • Increased the number of students qualifying for gifted services and high potential services by 40% Fountain Elementary • Student calendar winner for the Keep Forest Park Beautiful. Student’s art piece is featured in the CCPS county-wide calendar

King, Jr. International Rose Garden of Peace Poetry Contest (Plaques are on display at King Center) West Clayton Elementary • Keep Forest Park Beautiful 2012 Calendar contest winner • First Place in the School Box Art Contest • First & Second Place Georgia Wildlife Contest for “Give Wildlife A Chance” • First Place All County Art Competition Winner • First & Second Grades Hear Our Voices “Short Story” winners

Area III Accomplishments STUDENT RECOGNITIONS Babb Middle School • Babb’s Dance Dawgs and Forest Park ZDX Won: 1st Place Universal Dance Association State Competition (High-kick Division); 1st Place Universal Dance Association State Competition (Hip-hop Division); "Most Crowd Appeal" award at Universal Dance Association State Competition; High Platinum Rating at Showstopper Talent Competition; 1st Place Universal Dance Association state competition; Crystal rating in Showstopper Talent Competition • State Girls’ Basketball Champions • State Girls’ Track Champions • State Girls’ Swimming Champions • Bria Matthews Set a County Record In The Triple Jump. • Orchestra received superior ratings at the District VI performance evaluations • Seven orchestra students received excellent ratings at District VI solo evaluations • Eight students participated in All-County orchestra and the GMEA Clinic • FCCLA: Pablo Yanez, Chili Cook-off winner at the Ga National Fair • STAR Events gold medal winners Ann Tran and Gabrielle June • Eight FCCLA students received recognition in state and national events

Area III Accomplishments STUDENT RECOGNITIONS Elite Scholars Academy • Sydney Bourget, Quaing Kieu and Rachel Omoruyi won CCPS Social Studies Fair and moved on to the state fair • Quaing Kieu and Yekema Champman placed 2nd in the State Science Fair Quaing Kieu received a Mathematics Excellence Award and Yekema Chapman received the Water Authority Award • Three 7th grade students qualified for the Duke Talent Identification Program • Three students won awards for H&R Block essay contest • 9th grade students completed study abroad in Puerto Rico • Students successfully Skyped with Turkey, Egypt, and Columbia

Area III Accomplishments STUDENT RECOGNITIONS Morrow High School • 4 Gates Millennium Scholars • 4 students to State Governor’s Honors North Clayton High School • Athletic State Playoff: Football (3 consecutive yrs., Basketball 2 consecutive yrs., Golf (State Champ), • Tamasha Brazil (Teacher)/Ja’Sharee Bush (student) won 1st Place in CCPS and the Regional Science Fair. They received an invitation to compete in the International Science Fair in CA. Only CCPS student with this honor this school year. • April Moore (Food and Consumer Science Teacher) and student Lakesha Stewart won 1st place in Culinary Arts State competition. They received an invitation to compete in the National competition in CA. Only CCPS student with this 2011 honor

  22. Area III Accomplishments STUDENT RECOGNITIONS Huie Elementary • Student Step Team raised funds for Superintendent’s Scholarship Fund North Clayton Middle School • Winner of Atlanta Voice essay competition • Hosted 150 rising 6th grade students for a day in the life at NCMS

Area III Accomplishments STUDENT RECOGNITIONS Forest Park High School • Tia Palmer, Amoni Ethridge, and Jayme Bailey won 3rd Place in the West Metro Regional Fair • Nghia Huynh won 1st place in Junior Varsity Individual Competition • Ashley Huff – Skills USA Cosmetology Regional winner • Robert Johnson –Skills USA Plumbing Regional winner • Christopher Bateman – Skills USA Masonry Regional winner • Hung Le – Class of 2011 highest SAT Score and Star Student • Tia Walker – FBLA 1st Place Spreadsheet • Julio Fonseca, Daniel Hernandez, and Sara Gomez won 1st place in Business Ethics Lady Panthers-State finalists Girls Basketball

Area III Accomplishments SCHOOL-WIDE RECOGNITIONS King Elementary • National Title I Distinguished School Award (Top school out of 181 counties in Ga. - Closing the Achievement Gap) • Net Q Grant with Georgia State University (10 – 12 student teachers) • Education partnership with Shorter University Northcutt Elementary • Northcutt’s 5th grade students increase writing scores by 26 percentage points Babb Middle School • Student truancy in 2010-2011 improved more than 50% over 2009-2010 • Television show host Mo’Nique provided guidance to 100 female students in a 3 hour workshop • Babb is the only middle school in the state with FCCLA Officers at the State Level

State University, a multi-million dollar federal grant targeting teacher improvement Morrow Middle School • Title I Distinguished school • SREB 2011 Gold Medal School

Forest Park Middle School • Recognized by Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education as one of 16 middle schools statewide to have made significant student achievement gains North Clayton Middle School • CNN Recognition for Learning Without Walls • Atlanta Dream adopted theme song written by students Fountain Elementary • Bronze Award for making great gains in student achievement • 2010 Winner of the Single Statewide Accountability System Award

Area III Accomplishments SCHOOL-WIDE RECOGNITIONS Forest Park High School • Earned top scores in 3 out of 5 categories on the Georgia High School Graduation Test • Business Department earned Industry Certification • 2nd year FBLA Bronze Chapter • “Highly Certified” CTAE Department • SKILLS USA Award for the largest increase in membership for the 2010-2011 school year • FBLA – Bronze Chapter at the Regional Competition • Math Club won 1st place varsity • Girls Track Team State Final participation
