    1. Resurrection Power Ephesians 1:19b-22 & The Purifying Significance of Jesus Triumph Over Death I would like everyone to begin today by taking out their Bibles and turning with me to Luke 24:1-11. This is the historic account of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The heavily guarded tomb was empty, the grave clothles were undisturbed, and the King of Eternity was raised forevermore. Today as we proceed in our study of Ephesians we will behold the fact that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is not only the hinge of human history but is the power that is fueling our lives at this very moment. Turn forward to the epistle of Ephesians: So far: Elected, Enlightened to the Mystery of God, Sealed by the Spirir and Paul prays that we would be enlightened to further glory. And now Paul is going to relate was is occuring in our beings the purification and renewal we are experiencing to the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. 2. Resurrection Power for Believers Ephesians 1:19-20 . . . and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, Paul has just described the glorious precepts of our salvation: that we have been made his inheritance, that we have an unmovable hope of His calling and now he tells us what the source of this power is:Paul has just described the glorious precepts of our salvation: that we have been made his inheritance, that we have an unmovable hope of His calling and now he tells us what the source of this power is:

    3. The Ascended Anointed One PSA 110:1-2 The Lord says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. The Lord will stretch forth Your strong scepter from Zion, saying, "Rule in the midst of Your enemies."

    4. Indestructible Life Hebrews 7:15-16 And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life. Hebrews 7:28 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

    5. A Soaring Kingship EPH 1:21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

    6. The King of the Universe/The Head of the Church Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. The truth we must realize is that Jesus Kingship is not limited in scope. His power, His authority, is over all people and places. The truth we must realize is that Jesus Kingship is not limited in scope. His power, His authority, is over all people and places.

    7. The Pre-Eminent Prince of Peace Colossians 1:17-18 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.

    8. Why Resurrection Power is Intimately Personal EPH 2:4-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

    9. Defining and Discerning the Power of the Resurrection Is there Healing in the Atonement? ISA 53:5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.

    10. New Testament Commentary on Isaiah 53:5 1Peter 2:24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

    11. Establishing a Biblical Worldview 2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

    12. Avoiding an Overreaction There is Most Definitely Healing in the Atonement: The Effects of Being Free from Sin= Eternal Healing Spiritual and Physical at the Appointed Time 2 Corinthians 5:4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.

    13. Defining the Power of the Resurrection Towards the Believer The believer in the Messiah receives justification, sanctification, and glorification through the Power of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ

    14. #1 Cling to the Doctrine of the Resurrection 1 Corinthians 15:12-15: Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.

    15. #1 Cling to the Doctrine of the Resurrection 1Corinthians 15:16-20 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.

    16. #2 Live as Those Alive from the Dead Romans 6:11-13 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

    17. #3 Set Your Sights on the Finish Line Philippians 3:10-13 . . . that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

    18. Conclusion: Stirred to the Promise of Future Glory ROM 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. In conclusion I would like us all to turn to Romans chapter eight. And Paul here again relates our redemption to resurrection: Read text So brothers and sisters this is our hope, this is the power of our calling. The Spirit that has created all things, the Spirit that sustains every molocule and moves every moment of human history dwells in you through faith if the risen Lord. And this same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead will also give life to our mortal bodies on the day of the resurrection. This should motivate us to long for his holiness. It should spur us to pursue his precepts. Most of all, this truth should cause us to fix our eyes on our risen King and persevere in the faith until He returns and fulfills his promise. The resurrection of Jesus of Nazereth is not a one day event it is an eternal one which is the sure anchor of our souls. And we can take comfort in our everliving risen King: as he announced in victory after His resurrection: I am the First and the Last, the Living one, I was dead and behold I am alive forevermore! Even so, Come Quickly Lord Jesus. In conclusion I would like us all to turn to Romans chapter eight.
