Summary From the time he was a small boy, Matthew Henson wanted adventure. In 1879, when he was only 13 years old, he walked 40 miles to Baltimore's harbor and got a job on a ship. When he was 20 years old he went on his first expedition with explorer Robert Peary. Soon after, he and Robert Peary were bound for the biggest adventure of all - the search for the North Pole.
