  1. Transfer Pumps and Its Types

  2. Introduction A chemical transfer pump with a mechanical seal can offer the perfect solution for applications that require the transfer of liquids that contain solids. A second advantage of these pumps is the cost. Compared to sealless pumps, these styles are typically available at a lower price point.

  3. Uses • Transfer pumps are self-priming centrifugal pumps designed for high volume and low pressure. Typical uses of these pumps include: • Filling a sprayer tank from a nurse tank or standing water • Watering seedbeds, recently planted foliage, turf, and trees • Dust control and other low-pressure spraying • Transferring fertilizer from holding tanks to sprayer tanks • Providing water flow for a CleanLoad Chemical Eductor • Irrigation • Dewatering

  4. Chemical transfer pumps are not to be confused with chemical process pumps, or pumps used to process chemicals by mixing them, heating/cooling them, or some other process. A chemical transfer pump may be used in conjunction with a chemical process pump in order to carry out a process. Although water is technically a chemical, a water transfer pump is generally not considered to be a chemical transfer pump. This is because the casing and components of a chemical transfer pump are often built with highly resilient materials that can withstand toxic, corrosive, or otherwise hazardous media.
