Current History of Human Rights in S.A. • Human rights conditions remain poor in Saudi Arabia. • Authorities continue to systematically suppress or fail to protect the rights of Saudi women, girls, and workers. • Each year thousands of people receive unfair trials or are subject to arbitrary detention.

  3. Womens and Girls Rights • Saudi Arabia continues to treat women as legal minors. • Women have very little rights, and a lot of basic things that women here get to do, Women in Saudi Arabia would need permission to do. • Women cannot work as judges or prosecutors. Promises by the Justice Ministry in February to draft a law allowing women lawyers to practice in court remained unmet.

Violations of the Declaration of Human Rights. • Counted, Saudi Arabia has violated 20/30 articles in the Declaration of Human Rights. • Article 1. - All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Men and women are not born with equal rights in Saudi-Arabia. The woman's rights will mostly be dependent on her male relatives decisions.

Article 2. - Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. In Saudi Arabia, rights are often disregarded when it comes to Women. • Article 10. - Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him. Women that protested peacefully outside the Ministry of Interior for demanding fair trials for their relatives were detained.

  6. Solutions - Saudi Arabia seems to have problems mostly with women's rights and although it is said to have to do with religion, I think things wont get much better until women in that country start being treated as equal.
