Progress to date - SPSP

This session provides an overview of the Scottish Patient Safety Program (SPSP) and its progress to date. We will share successes and challenges in building a sustainable infrastructure to improve patient safety within hospitals. The session will highlight key findings, including historical data on adverse events in hospitals, with statistics such as 3.7% from Harvard in 1991, 16.6% in Australia in 1995, and 10.8% in London in 2001. Together, we will explore strategies to enhance safety and reduce hospital stay lengths in the UK, addressing the critical issue of adverse events.
