  4. Value Scale 10 Steps of Value There are 100's of variances of value but we can easily identify 10 Steps of Value within a work of art. Can you point out the 10 Steps in this eye?

  5. Create your value scales On your notes page, complete the value scales using the cross hatching, hatching, blending and stipple techniques.

Chiaroscuro • Chiaroscuro- (key-ah-roh-skew-roh) From the Italian meaning “light-dark.” The use of value contrasts to represent the effects of light and shadow. • Involves using extreme light and dark contrasts within a work of art. • The word "chiaro" means light and "scuro" means dark. • Questions: • Where is the light source? • What is happening in this scene?
