  3. Introduction to online education • Our paper is about online education in Eastern Mediterranean University • With online education does not required to physical attendance • Our work is about a case study with a particular reference to EMU • Prof. Dr. Isik Aybay who is a Director of EMU distance education institute was also our reference.

  4. Literature Review • We got data from the registration office about online studies. • The department of human resource management is responsible all kinds of data related to the number students enrolled in the University. • We use the raw data to come up with a graph below

  5. Literature Review

  6. Unique features to online education • The unique features of online education are as folows: • Auditory for listeners online • visual for learners who use their eyes to view • kinesthetic learners is a learning style in which learning takes place by the student actually carrying out a physical activity

  7. Unique features to online education • Online education is a more efficient training of a globally dispersed audience. • It reduces publishing and distribution costs as Web-based training becomes a standard • Individualized instruction, which print media, cannot provide and instructor-led courses allow complexity and at great cost

  8. Collaborative Learning • All collaborative learning theory contends that human interaction is a vital ingredient to learning. • With well-delivered synchronous distance education, and technology like message boards, chats, e-mail, and tele-conferencing, this potential drawback is reduced

  9. Collaborative Learning • Online educator detractors (classroom teachers) still argue that the magical classroom bond between teacher and student and among the students themselves cannot be replicated through communications technology.

  10. The Benefits Of This System Eg Flash Simulations • A flash simulation is an interactive flash video usually used in online or distance learning • It is use to simulate a real life device, equipment, function or place • It is used to minimize cost in production, distribution and training

  11. The Benefits Of This System Eg Flash Simulations • Examples are as follow: • Cisco router, • Online Exams, • Flash Video used to deliver video over the Internet using Adobe Flash Player • Adobe Flash Player

  12. Video Conferencing • This is a set of interactive telecommunication technologies • It allows two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously. • Another name for video conference is visual collaboration which and is a type of groupware

  13. Video Conferencing • Videoconferencing differs from videophone calls in that it's designed to serve a conference rather than individuals. • It is an intermediate form of videotelephony, first deployed commercially by AT&T during the early 1970s using their Picturephone technology • This is widely use in online education in the distribution of material and training

  14. Vod in online Education • Video on Demand (VoD) is an interactive multimedia system that works like cable Television. • With video on demand the customer can select a movie from a large video database. • Individual customers in an area are able to watch different programs when they wish.

  15. Vod in online Education • This is one example of a video rental shop • The situation in online education is that most of these videos are: • professors, • Lectures, • training, • manuals etc for the industries, universities, and work place.

  16. Advantages of online education to the Trainer or Organization • Reduced overall cost • In a single most influential factor in adopting online education • Elimination of costs associated with instructor's salaries • Meeting room rentals • student travel • Online education is flexible. Skip material you already know and focus on the topic you will like to learn

  17. Advantages of online education to the Trainer or Organization • lodging • meals are directly quantifiable. • The reduction of time spent away from the job by employees may be the most positive offshoot. • Expert knowledge is communicated • Online education is self pacing. It is not too slow and not too fast. • Unbounded by time. course are available 24 hours a week

  18. Research Methodology • We used questionnaire and interview to get student’s opinion about on-line education • Some of the questions posed were as follows: • What is your opinion about web portal content? • What is your view about online courses? • Online text, instructional is it’s easy to understand?

  19. Research Methodology • What is your opinion about teacher communication? • What is your opinion about peer to peer communication? • What is your opinion about teacher web portal functionality? • What is your opinion about teacher competence? • What is your opinion about web courses security? • What is opinion about use of the newsgroup?

  20. Research Methodology • Using the questionnaire approach gave the perception about the online course in EMU as shown in this graph

  21. conclusion • We come to the conclusion that online education has not been progressive for the past years in Eastern Mediterranean University. The teach was the face to face traditional classroom base with computer aid learning. In order to improve online education in this University .a marketing system need to be put in place so we could create awareness to students about on line education and it benefit. This is necessary because as time passes by online education will over come the traditional classroom studies because of the new technologies. however we still take into consideration the bond between a teach and a student and that of a student and a student cannot be replace by any technology
