Theodore Sedgwick (May 9, 1746 - January 24, 1813) was a prominent lawyer and politician in early America. Born in West Hartford, Connecticut, he practiced law in Massachusetts after attending Yale College, though he did not graduate. Sedgwick played a significant role during the Revolutionary War as a secretary on the Canadian expedition. A committed Federalist, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Massachusetts State Senate, and became a member of the Continental Congress. In 1802, he was appointed a Supreme Court judge in Massachusetts, where he served until his death.
