  3. REPRODUCTIVE CHALLENGES IN DAIRY ANIMLAS DURING HOT SUMMER • THI = takes in to account the combined effects of air temperature and humidity. • The cows will show heat stress signs when THI, reaches 72. In summer it also goes up and heat stress is produced.

  4. REPRODUCTIVE CHALLENGES IN DAIRY ANIMLAS DURING HOT SUMMER • Local Cows and Imported Holstein Frisian (Local resist well the stress imported are susceptible to heat stress Local Buffaloes • ( Breeding season and Low breeding Seasons)

REPRODUCTIVE CHALLENGES IN DAIRY ANIMLAS DURING HOT SUMMER Heat Stress Causes Effect: • Estrus Detection ( Intensity and duration) • Fertility ( fertility by impeded development of mature follicle ) • Follicle Maturity ( Causes early development of follicular wave) • Embryonic development ( Up to Gestation day 40 Embryo is susceptible to Elevated cows internal temperature that reduces the development of Embryo)

Cow comfort (Shade, water availability, Air movement and Sprinkles) Nutrition ( Prevent from decrease DMI , aid buffers to prevent acidosis, addition of energy, grain or fat is advantageous during hot weather) Reproductive management ( Heat detection Aids, Timed A.I Protocols, GnRH agonist or hCG day 5 Post AI )
