What is directionality? • The meaning of some signs in ASL can change, based on the way some signs are moved. This feature of ASL is called directionality. • Hint: If you want to sign something being done to, for, or with you, then the sign tends to be directional.
The directional verb “HELP” • HELP~ME • HELP~YOU • HELP~US • HELP~HER/HIM • HELP~THEM • Note: You don’t need to add the sign for the pronouns above-they are included in the sign!
