  2. Bell Ringer: • Think back about your school experience. Write the questions and your responses on a clean sheet of paper • • What was the most enjoyable way a teacher taught you a concept? • • What is the least enjoyable way a teacher taught you a concept? • • What was the most creative use of technology in teaching a concept? • Now I would like for you to stand and share your responses (without using teacher names) to the person sitting across from you. • Finally, large group share

  4. What to expect • Student-Led Teaching Assignment • Choose a partner & reseat • No open spaces (move to the front) • This will be the seating chart for the rest of the month • Draw a number for your topic & date of lesson

Teaching strategies • There are many different teaching strategies to help students learn and synthesize the content of the class • I’ve posted a list of strategies on Edmodo. • There are MANY more. • One strategy is a Gallery Walk • We will now use the Gallery Walk strategy to learn about other teaching strategies.

Gallery walk • Walk around the room with your partner • Stop at each of the teaching strategy methods posted on the walls • Read the strategy together and spend about 30 seconds discussing it • Pick your favorite three strategies that you may choose to use in your lesson • Write the strategies on your bell ringer paper and sit back down

Assessment • Teacher’s assess for many reasons • You will be preparing a five question assessment as a part of your lesson • Could be multiple choice, T/F, fill in the blank, etc. • You must turn in your assessment along with answer key prior to your day of teaching • Assessing must be accomplished within your 15 minute lesson and assessment must be emailed in electronic format to Mrs. Becker • Assessments will be combined to create Unit Test

In class research • Use the next 15 minutes to research with your partner using your textbook. • Keep notes to use for your lesson • Discuss some ideas you have about how to put together your lesson • You will spend the majority of the next class period working on the lesson plan • Rough draft of your lesson plan will be due by the end of the next class period

  13. Exit slip • Please write two sentences about what you know about your lesson topic. • Write this on your bell ringer paper and please turn it in to me as you exit

Bell ringer: (5 minutes) • Working with your partner complete the following: • Pull out a piece of paper and a pen/pencil (scratch paper is fine) • Partner explains how to draw a picture of their room to the other partner • Where is your bed, closet, doorway, etc.? Are there windows, furniture, clothing. • Once your partner has finished drawing it switch roles and go through the exercise again. • How close were the drawings to the actual space?

  17. Evaluate a teaching experience • You just taught someone to draw a picture of your room. • Did you realize you were teaching? • Peer Lesson Evaluation • Using the lesson evaluation sheet as a guide, please evaluate two domain areas of your partners teaching experience

  18. Lesson reflection • Lesson Reflection • Finally, I would like for you to reflect on your teaching experience. Use the feedback that your partner just created during their evaluation of your teaching experience. • Answer the following questions on your same paper. • To what extent did students learn what you intended? How do you know? • If you were going to teach this class again to the same students, what would you do differently? What would you do the same? Why?

Lesson plans • The remainder of the class you will work with your partner to create your lesson plan rough draft. • Everything should be completed on your lesson plan sheet and turned in to me by the end of the period. • I will review your lesson plan, make suggested changes (if applicable) and return it to you Friday. • Friday you will finalize your plans. Typed final version are due to me by email by end of school on Friday. • Hard copies should be turned in on date of your lesson presentation.
