2. CS CHAMBER Task: Conduct annual mask confidence exercise with assigned protective mask Condition: Given CBRN CS Chamber (VIC PJ 855305) standard CS Tablets, five Chemical Operations Specialists (74D), assigned M40 protective mask, and all necessary material. Standards: Ensure all Soldiers are familiar with the proper wear and PMCS of their protective masks. Successfully complete a series of exercises designed to stress the Soldier and the seal of their protective mask and ensure they are able to break and reseal their mask in a contaminated environment. “CHEMFANTRY”

3. CS CHAMBER Purpose:Given a simulated CBRN combat environment, individual combat equipment, utilize the M40 Protective Mask Method: Soldiers will be supervised while conducting PMCS on their assigned Protective mask. Once complete, Soldiers will have nine seconds to don their mask. Then, a CBRN NCO will verify the seal on the mask. The CBRN NCO will monitor for one minute, for any fogging on the lens. Then the Soldiers will enter the CS Chamber and conduct various movements and exercises. They will stop breathing, break the seal, clear and seal. Then wait to be released from inside the chamber by the CBRN NCO. “CHEMFANTRY”

4. CS CHAMBER • Execution:Five Chemical Operations Specialists (74D) and one OIC observe, assist and regulate the PMCS, donning, and training of all personnel attending the training. • Phase I: Soldiers supervisors trained Soldiers on Masking Procedures and correct PMCS. This training provides Soldiers technical knowledge to enable successful reaction in a CBRN environment. • Phase II: CS Chamber Execution. CS Chamber are executed 20 and 21 OCT 08 at CS Chamber from 0900-1700hrs. “CHEMFANTRY”

CS CHAMBER Execution Timeline ALL Range Days 0615 – 0630: Vehicle Prep 0630 – 0700: OIC/RSO, Range Detail, and Medic MVMT to CS Chamber 0700 – 0930: Area Setup 0730 – 0830: Soldiers eat breakfast at DFAC 0845 – 0900: Soldiers linkup with LMTV at parking lot behind HHC, BSTB (Bldg 8021) 0900 – 0930: Soldiers MVMT to Range via LMTV 0930 – 0945: Safety Brief 0945 – 1200: Execute training (Day 1: HHC, Bravo Co, Charlie Co) (Day 2: Alpha Co, Charlie Co) 1200 – 1300: Chow (MRE) 1300 – 1600: Execute training (Day 1: HHC, Bravo Co, Charlie Co) (Day 2: Alpha Co, Charlie Co) 1600 – 1700: Area Cleanup, Recovery, and Clearing 1700 – 1730: MVMT of all Soldiers to HHC, BSTB (Bldg 8021) via LMTV MVMT of all Personnel/Equipment to STB Motorpool. 1730 – UTC: Vehicle and Equipment Recovery “CHEMFANTRY”

CS CHAMBER Execution (Additional Info) • Vehicle Staging Area All vehicles are prepared for movement with five cases of MREs and ten full water cans. • Chamber Staging and Final Seal Check All Personnel are accounted for and receive a Safety Brief upon arrival at site. No one is cleared to leave unless OIC/RSO are notified. This area will always have an NCO present to maintain security and accountability. Prior to any personnel entering the chamber, OIC/RSO receive a headcount of personnel at CS chamber. OIC/ RSO give go ahead only once all personnel numbers are accounted. • CS Chamber Soldiers initiate all movements under the guidance and command of CBRN Cadre. CS CHAMBER Training Gates • Soldiers must pass all gates IOT participate in live CS Chamber. • Crawl: Classroom • In a field environment, Soldiers are taught, practice and evaluated on correct mask PMCS procedures by the CBRN NCO. • Walk: Inert • In a field environment, Soldiers are taught , practice and evaluated on correct masking procedures by their supervisors. • Run: Range Walk Though • At the CS Chamber, Soldiers are given a Range Orientation and Safety Brief by OIC and are required to perform PMCS on their assigned protective and don their protective mask. • EXECUTE: LIVE • At the CS Chamber, Soldiers will enter the live CS Chamber. “CHEMFANTRY”

COMMO - OIC signs for two MACOMs with spare batteries from range control to serve as primary and alternate commo. - Supply provides four MBITR for commo between OIC/RSO, instructors and range detail while on the range. RISK ASSESSMENT Assessment Call: Low During CS Chamber exercise, the Soldiers are divided into 10 Soldier teams. Each team will conduct PMCS and don their assigned protective mask. 14. CS CHAMBER BN Reporting Requirements The opening and closing reports apply to all training, including maintenance. Companies report to BN Staff Duty 240-3304. BN Staff duty reports to BDE Staff Duty 239-5065. 16. Safety Brief CS CHAMBER • Weather related concerns (Severe Storm / Cold) • Poisonous snakes (rattle snakes and copper heads) and spiders (brown recluse and black window) inhabit Fort Riley. Leave all snakes, spiders, and wildlife alone. • Designated smoking area / Latrine. Smoking outside of the smoking area will result in immediate removal from the range and contact of your chain of command. • Questions? • Introduce OIC and RSOs. • Uniform: IBA w/ Plates, ACH, Protective Mask, Gloves, Knee and Elbow Pads Downgrading at no time authorized. • PMCS evaluator must clear you to pass forward to the CS Chamber area. • Soldiers may NOT enter the chamber with contact lens in eyes or pregnant Soldiers! • Only exemption from CS Chamber is a profile or written doctors note in hand. • “CEASE FIRE” can be called at anyone’s discretion, regardless of rank. • Point out CLS. • Drink water and eat food.
