  2. Completed Projects Phoenix Healthcare Value Measurement Initiative • The goal of PHVMI was to develop a process for measuring physician-level performance on selected process of care measures and to explore the contribution of patient-level versus physician-level factors in explaining variations in performance. • Study Partners: AHCCCS, HealthNet of Arizona, Banner Health, CIGNA and Humana • Project has been completed. Detailed report submitted to participants. Manuscript based on generalizable, non-confidential findings is in the final stages of being prepared.

  3. On-going Projects Urban Vulnerability to Climate Change • This project, funded by the National Science Foundation with Sharon Harlan (ASU) as Principal Investigator, is 1) assessing the relationship between temperature and variations in mortality, ED visits, and hospitalizations in Maricopa county; 2) exploring the factors associated with differences in heat-related adverse health events; and 3) developing a model to estimate future impacts of climate change on health. • Analysis of geo-referenced mortality data has been completed • Analysis of ED and hospital data in progress • Climate change modeling in progress

  4. On-going Projects Colorectal Cancer Screening • This project, funded by the CDC with Virginia Warren (AZDHS) as Principal Investigator, is attempting to derive a data-based estimate (using HEDIS specifications) of the colorectal cancer screening rate for Arizona residents to compare with the BRFSS estimate. • Information is being gathered

  5. On-going Projects Stroke Outcomes • This project, being done in collaboration with Jeremy Payne and the Banner Health System, will assess outcomes in patients with stroke who have been hospitalized in Banner hospitals Electronic Health Record Outcomes • This project, being done in collaboration with Lori Mayer, is tracking adoption and use of electronic health records among allopathic and osteopathic physicians practicing in Arizona

  6. On-going Projects University of Arizona College of Medicine Medical Student Scholarly Projects • Descriptive analysis of ED visits and hospitalizations in children with asthma who are insured through AHCCS (Zach Ortiz, MPH) • Analysis is in progress with due data of January 2012 • Time trend analysis on relationship between emergent status of ED visit and lack of insurance in adults seen int the Maricopa Integrated Health System ED (Gary Morris) • Analysis is in progress with due data of January 2012

  7. Progress on Resource Development Community Health Needs Assessment: Basic Data Report • This project aims at making available the capability of generating health data, displayed in tables and graphs, for geographically defined “service areas” and comparator data (county or state) as input to a hospital or health center’s community health needs assessment process • This capability now exists for data through 2008 with 2009 data available in January

  8. Progress on Resource Development Trauma Registry Research Data Resource • Capability to provide linkage between data from trauma registries and other data resources in order to facilitate trauma research • Project is on-going
