  1. Outward sorting in M.O. Recollect all post offices close mail bag containing all kinds of articles to the district mail office in the evening (Only articles meant to be delivered by the same office were retained by them)

The district mail office retains articles meant for its own district and despatches articles meant for other districts in bags to the respective district mail offices. • The articles are to be sorted for every district before sending them to other mail offices • Articles meant for other circles are normally routed to a mail office which functions as the circle concentration centres for despatch to other circles • Article meant for other countries are routed to a mail office designated as office of exchange

  3. Contd…. • Mail bags from post offices are received at the district mail office generally between 5 30 PM and 7 30 PM • Mail bags for other district mail offices are generally closed around 10 PM

  4. Inward Sorting • Other district mail offices • -One may be the circle concentration centre

  5. Recollect all District mail offices close mail bags for other district mail offices, Circle concentration centre for outward despatch and mail office designated for handling foreign mails in the night. (They retain the mails meant for post offices in their own district)

The district mail offices receive bags from other district mail offices generally around and after mid night- why? • These bags contain articles meant for post offices of the particular district • These mails are to be sorted post office wise • Bags are despatched to all the post offices connected to that mail office • These bags are generally closed early in the morning around and after 4 AM- why?
