  3. Method • Time scale chosen • 1st Sept 2010 – 31st Dec 2010 • All patients in ROP Book (on Neonatal Unit) • Check standards against National Guidelines

  4. Audit Standards Do not admit <27 weeks

  5. Results • 24 Patients Identified • 3 Notes not able to be located  21 Patients Analysed

  6. Gender

  7. Individual Birthweight & Gestational Age 100% of babies <32 weeks GA or <1501g birthweight receive at least one ROP eye examination

  8. Timing of 1st Screen(postnatal age in weeks) 95% before 5 completed weeks post natal age (postponement documented)

  9. Screening Before Discharge 100% of babies admitted to the unit at <32 weeks GA have at least one eye examination on the unit

  10. Timing of Treatment • Two babies required transfer for further screening • No babies needed treatment

  11. Parent Information • Difficult to find record of written information given to parents about ROP Screening

  12. Transferred Infants • No screening done before transfer • All screening carried out on return

  13. Discharged Infants • All patients had outpatient appointment before discharge

  14. Audit Standards  Do not admit <27 weeks   ? ?  ? 

  15. Recommendations • Need to record in notes discussion with parents and information leaflet given • Aim to screen all babies before discharge • Use the Standardised Sheet for recording screening results (not always used in all patients)
