Who’s on our Team? • CLASS Phoenix Design Team • Classroom educators, specialists, administrators, and classified from all grade levels • Association groups (OCEA, OSEA, School Board, and Admin) • Sub-committees – • Classroom educators and classified from various grade levels • Our Staff – Certified, Classified, and administrators • ODE coaches • ODE Collaboration grant • NEA • NEA Foundation Grant

Evaluation Prior to 2011 • Educator creates an Individual Professional Growth Plan (PGP) – completed annually • Traditional Evaluation (3X) • Scheduled pre-observation meeting and planning • Formal observation • Post observation conference • Summative (three levels – meets, area for improvement, does not meet) • Non-Traditional Evaluation (contracted educator) • Mutually agreed upon goals that are monitored • Scheduled conferences to monitor progress (evidence) • Summative (three levels – meets, area for improvement, does not meet)

Evaluation Pilot (SY11-12 & 12-13) • Evaluation Process – • Educators do a self-assessment on the domains (Charolette Danielson) • Educators complete an Individual Growth and Evaluation form (SMART format) to set goals (2) • SLO were added in 12-13 to a pilot group w/ mid-year check • Educator has a Professional Growth and Evaluation conference to go over goals with administrator/supervisor

Evaluation Pilot (SY11-12 & 12-13) Continued • Educator completes a Professional Growth and Evaluation reflection on the domains and teaching • Summative meeting with administrator/supervisor to review progress . • 2nd. Year of pilot (12-13) will determine educator placement on the continuum • Beginning in 12-13 we will use a matrix model for our summative (professional practice and student growth)

Evaluation Pilot - Observations • Kim Marshall Observation style • 5 mini-observations (unannounced) per year during the pilot (minimum) • 2 formal feedback (verbal and written) • 3 informal feedback (verbal, but can be written) • Formal observation is available if requested (educator/admin) • Observation feedback is included in the summative evaluation. A summative score.

Professional Development • Additional Professional Development • TeachScape on-line PD of domains 2 and 3 • Including training in each bldg. on how to use • Implementation of TalentEd to house all evaluation and observation documents • SLO workshop for Educators (pilot) • Additional use of PLC time by staff to understand the domains of the evaluation system and to improve teaching • All administrators have received and continue to receive inter-rater reliability training on the domains

Aligned Professional Development • Increased discussion and dialogue on student learning outcomes and student engagement • Creation of Teacher Educator Leaders and Mentor/Mentee opportunities • CLASS 101 for Educators to understand the new evaluation system and mini-observations • CLASS 201 for Administrators to understand their role in the new evaluation system and for them to learn about their new evaluation system

  10. Professional Development Next Steps • Continued PD on the domains • Training for all staff on Student Learning Outcomes • Analyzing the summative data for additional supports as needed • Creating a menu of PD opportunities for staff to use on-line • Continued Mentor/mentee opportunities
