The Upside of City Surveillance Cameras We are constantly living in fear - fear of a terrorist attack, street fights, molestation, etc. that threaten our peace of mind and our basic right to live freely as respectable citizens of the society. As such, having surveillance cameras in public areas like schools, colleges, airports, departmental stores & malls, entertainment zones, etc. is a necessity. City surveillance authorities are taking strict measures to safeguard our security and deploying technology is just one of them. Today, practically all public places are covered by city surveillance cameras. The best part is that they are so versatile that they offer a wide range of features and benefits to their users and subsequently to us – the general public. Whether we are shopping, clubbing or commuting, surveillance cameras ensure our safety through their 360° vision and surveillance capabilities. At times, they help deter a crime even before it happens because everyone is aware of their presence now. The panoramic fisheye security cameras for instance are so advanced that they catch the slightest movement and their compact design makes them less conspicuous. The PTZ network cameras i.e. the pan-tilt-zoom versions are very popular due to their functional design and capabilities. It has been observed that the crime rate has reduced considerably ever since hi- tech cameras have been deployed. It's the fear of being caught that is keeping people from committing crimes. Since cameras are extremely sensitive and grab high resolution images, it becomes easy to identify individuals. Courts too recognize and acknowledge surveillance camera footage as evidence in legal proceedings. The modern cameras also come with the night vision feature that makes it easier for the camera to grab high resolution footage even at night or in low visibility areas. It cannot be denied that public surveillance cameras are improving lives and adding to our comfort and convenience. It’s impossible to imagine the hazards and possibilities their absence can lead to. It’s only because of these cameras that we feel safe even when we are out on the streets moving around without fear.
