  1. Everything you need to know about the Tata Tiago The Tata Tiago was one of the most eagerly anticipated launches of 2016 and the compact car created quite a flutter in the Indian market prior to its launch. The car did not come without its share of controversies. The car was earlier named Zica and the launch was put on hold after the outbreak of the Zika virus epidemic across the globe. The name Tiago was chosen after the public was asked to choose between three names. The Tiago is the first car to come out of a reinvented and revamped Tata Motors post bringing Lionel Messi on board as its global ambassador and has been built with design inputs from teams in Italy, Pune and the United Kingdom. The Tiago is priced from INR 3.39 lakhs onwards (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The Tiago looks superbly stylish and contemporary in comparison to the Indica which it replaces in the market. The Tiago makes use of the company’s XO platform and was developed for over two years before being launched in India. The Tiago has five variants which are the XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ. These variants will apply for both diesel and petrol engine versions of the car. The Tiago looks unlike any other Tata car in the market so far. The new design language bestows it with a honeycomb signature grille which runs till the lovely headlamps. The front bumper integrates the air dam and chrome bezeled fog lamps which lends a sporty and charming look to the hatchback. Side character lines, alloy wheels, LED rear taillights, dual tone electronic ORVMs, central plastic cladding at the rear and a beefy bumper complete the look to perfection. The Tiago’s interiors resemble those of the compact sedan Zest to some extent. The car has a grey and black trim for the interiors along with a three spoke steering wheel accentuated with audio and telephony buttons. There are black accents for the central console in glossy black and a HVAC unit in addition to the pioneering ConnectNext infotainment system from Harman which is a major draw for customers. This comes with USB, Bluetooth and AUX among other features. The Tiago has a 1.05 litre diesel Revotorq engine in addition to a petrol 1.2 litre Revotron mill. These dish out 67 BHP/139 Nm and 84 BHP/114 Nm respectively. A 5 speed manual transmission unit is used for both petrol and diesel versions of the Tiago. The ARAI certified fuel economy is 23.84 kmpl for the petrol model which is fabulous to say the least while the diesel model takes it up a few notches at 27.28 kmpl which is absolutely unbelievable and should attract buyers in hordes. The top XZ petrol model is priced at INR 5, 00, 935 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) while its diesel counterpart is priced at INR 5, 84, 149 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The entry level diesel XB model is priced at INR 4, 18, 344. Tata is also offering added trims for the base XM, XT and XE models for INR 18, 000 extra.
