What is Performance Assessment? • Integration of knowledge across the domains • Measure depth of understanding, research skills, complex analysis, and ability to provide relevant evidence • Requires student-initiated planning and management of information • Reflect a real-world task • Allow for multiple approaches • Content is relevant and meaningful • Incorporation of 21st-centurt skills • Synthesizing information presented in a variety of formats

Why Performance Assessment? • Students can demonstrate application of knowledge and skills • Real-world setting allows for students to see application of their learning beyond the classroom • Applying learned skills in meaningful ways • CCR is the ability to integrate knowledge and skills across multiple domains and content standards • In the real-world there often is not a list of options to choose from • Assess higher order thinking skills
