  1. JWG UWB RSS-220 • Two meetings held, ~20 participants • IC goal is harmonize UWB spec with FCC Pt15 to eliminate confusion on grey-market devices • Relax current Communication device specs in 1.6-4.75 GHz bands • Previous concerns (from 2008) expressed by several participants • Effect of aggregated interference on noise floor • Effect of individual device noise in close proximity • Draft letter to IC being discussed indicating concerns RABC Quarterly Meeting, Toronto

  2. JWG SMSE-012-11 (TV White Space)(TV bands Below 698 MHz) • Initial meeting held Sept 12th • Approx 30 attendees • Objective:develop a policy and technical framework to make additional spectrum available for licence-exempt applications while taking into consideration the impact on existing users of the spectrum • Background • FCC 10-174 created White Space Rules in US in Sept 2010 • UK proposing White Space Rules similar to FCC • 16 Questions in Consultation • Responses due Nov 4th so JWG final draft needed mid October for RABC balloting • Next meeting Sept 20th at 10am RABC Quarterly Meeting, Toronto

  3. M&PC AWS SC • Review of several existing SRSP/RSS regarding LTE • Started review of draft updates to WCS RABC Quarterly Meeting, Toronto

  4. SWG LTE Impact on RSS / SRSPs • Reviewed the current specifications • AWS (RSS-139 & SRSP-513), PCS (RSS-133 & SRSP-510), BRS (RSS-199, GL-07) and cellular (RSS-132, SRSP-503) • Report sent to IC on July 19th • Transmit Power • Scale EIRP with bandwidth e.g. 1640W / MHz • Use similar value for PCS, AWS, BRS & cellular • Similar FDD and TDD limits • Out-of-Band emission limits • Category A is appropriate: • -13 dBm / 1% BW in first 1MHz • -13 dBm / 100kHz elsewhere (below 1GHz) • -13 dBm / MHz elsewhere (above 1GHz) • Other issues • No special rules needed for Carrier Aggregation or for the use of MIMO systems RABC Quarterly Meeting, Toronto

  5. SWG WCS (RSS-195, SRSP-516)(2305-2320 / 2345-2360 MHz) • Two meetings held, ~15 attendees • Intent is to align revised WCS rules with FCC rules • Participants noted that several technical issues are still being actively dialoged with FCC & US industry • Emission mask / power spectral density limits • TDD duty cycle constraints • Outdoor antenna specs • Trying to identify if Canada-specific option is possible or useful • Next (final?) meeting Oct 3rd at 1.30pm RABC Quarterly Meeting, Toronto
