  2. What is Nordic Combined? • Nordic combined is a sport combining ski jumping and cross country skiing.

History of Nordic Combined The first time Nordic Combined was introduced into the Olympics was in 1924 A picture of the Holmenkollen ski jump at the annual festival in Norway Nordic Combined first origins can be traced back to the 19th century in Oslo, Norway where the first major competition took place at the first ever Holmenkollen Ski Festival in 1892.

  4. Number of Countries Competing • There are 15 countries competing in Nordic Combined but the top countries that usually have the best athletes are Norway, Finland, Germany, Austria, and France. • The number of athletes competing in Sochi is 55 athletes in total.

  5. Favorite for Sochi 2014 • The favorite to win first place in Nordic Combined at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics is Germany’s Eric Frenzel

  7. Canada’s History in Nordic Combined • Canada has never won a medal in Nordic Combined. • Jason Myslicki participated in the 2006 winter Olympics in Turin and finished 41st. He was the first Canadian to compete in the sport since 1960 where Irvin Servold finished 25th in Squaw Valley.
