  10. Choices.. Which university? • What kind of institution? • Oxbridge • Pre-92 • Post-92 • Others? • What part of the country? • City centre, suburban or rural? • Campus or non-campus?

  11. Choices…Which course? Have they considered… Medicine Engineering Politics Italian Golf Course Management Brewing and Distilling technology • A subject they enjoy? • A subject they are good at? • A new subject? • Single, combined, modular? • Vocational? Non-vocational?

  12. A word about entry requirements • Check for • Required subjects • GCSE grades • Published offer grades AND actual entry grades of successful applicants • Other selection criteria e.g • Work experience • Particular skills and qualities • Additional tests LNAT, UKCAT, etc

What do admissions tutors look for? • Academic achievements (including predicted grades) • EVIDENCE of: • Interest in/motivation for your subject • ‘Fit’ with published selection criteria • Independent thinking • Demonstrated through: • What you say about your choice of course • Relevant experience • Interests and positions of responsibility
