  1. Utilizing the Blue Letter Bible www.blueletterbible.org Use a mouse click or the arrow keys on your keyboard to advance to the next slide.

  2. Let's take a look at the Blue Letter Bible and a few of its basic features. The web address is http://www.blueletterbible.org/ The screen default Bible version is the King James Bible of 1611. Modern translations are available on the website as well. This is the home page of the Blue Letter Bible. UTILIZING THE BLUE LETTER BIBLE: Slide 2 of 18

  3. Notice the full search functions on this opening page. The student may use the drop down menus or type in the reference desired. There is also a search engine for finding a word or a phrase in the Bible. Click on “Go to Verse” UTILIZING THE BLUE LETTER BIBLE: Slide 3 of 18

  4. Notice the Navigation bar at the top of the page. If you selected the wrong passage, or want to scroll through prior or next chapters, select the button you need. You can also select a different version of the Bible to read, by clicking on the drop down menu next to “Read / Print Other Versions.” The King James Version is the default version.   5. What I particularly like are the selection buttons next to each verse. K is for the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. This resource contains cross references for the words and phrases of the verse you are studying. UTILIZING THE BLUE LETTER BIBLE: Slide 5 of 18

  6. This is a sample of the information you can get from the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. Notice that most of the related verses refer to anger at mercy being shown to others, which was Jonah’s problem in chapter four. UTILIZING THE BLUE LETTER BIBLE: Slide 6 of 18

  7. C is for the Concordance and Hebrew and Greek Lexicon. This resource contains the words used in this verse in the original Hebrew or Greek. It also contains the Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament. UTILIZING THE BLUE LETTER BIBLE: Slide 7 of 18

  8. If your computer does not have Hebrew and Greek fonts installed, this page may not display properly. Notice that the entire verse is shown in Hebrew. Every word is shown with its equivalent Strong’s index number, the Hebrew root form of the word, and, in the case of verbs, the tense.   17. When you check the drop down menu provided for this option, you get a list of all the available dictionary entries for topics related to the passage, as well as Thematic Study Guides. This is one great resource! UTILIZING THE BLUE LETTER BIBLE: Slide 17 of 18

  18. One last feature I need to mention is the listing of the maps of Bible lands. When you click on the menu button for Images and Maps, you are given the option to view Old Testament or New Testament maps. These are all indexed by historical reference, which is very helpful.
