  4. RESULTS • Average Daytime Concentration over 5 year period: • Southern region: 54 ppbv • Central region: 49 ppbv(MLR model detects effects) • Northern region: 40-50 ppbv • Results were compared with soyFACE, Illinois(Soybean Free Air Concentration Enrichment)

RESEARCH: Ozone damage throughout crops of Europe • Researchers: Benton, Fuhrer, Gimeno and others. • Observed subterranean, white clover, french bean, soybean, tomato, watermelon amongst Germany, Austria, Finland, France,Hungary, Italy,Netherlands , Poland for ozone damage. • Subterranean & White clover: Injury on upper surface, chlorotic flecking on white clover, necrotic lesions on subterranean. • French Bean & Soybean:Necrosis, bronzing on upper leaf.

RESULTS IN EUROPE • Northern regions(Finland& Sweden): Mean daily maximum 35-41 ppb • Central regions: Mean daily maximum 50-60 ppb • Southern regions(Austria, Italy, Germany): Mean daily maximum 64,58,72 ppb • (>10% injured leaves per pot): Austria, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, & Switzerland. • (<10% injured leaves per pot): France, Italy, Russian Federation, Slovenia, United Kingdom.
