  3. If students are successful and enjoy positive relationships with adults, they are generally more interested in school, engaged in learning activities, and interact with their peers and teachers. (Levin & Nolan, 2016, p. xiii)

  4. Detentions, public reprimands, removed privileges, suspensions, calls to parent and failing grades seem to do little to motivate disruptive students toward appropriate behaviour. (Levin & Nolan, 2016, p. xvii)

  5. Don’t compete with your students or assume the full responsibility for their learning. Learning is a dual responsibility. (Levin & Nolan, 2016, p. xxiii)

  7. Teaching is “ . . . The use of preplanned behaviors, founded in learning principles and child development theory and directed toward both instructional delivery and classroom management, that increase the probability of affecting a positive change in student behavior ” (Levin & Nolan, 2016, p.4).

  8. “. . . Effective classroom management is inseparable from effective instruction” (Levin & Nolan, 2016, p.7).
