  2. Overview • Register MAC Address for Wireless • Add Wireless SSID to Laptop • Install VPN Program • Note: Everything can be done on or off campus

  3. Registering Wireless Laptop • Find MAC Address • Access Internet/Website • Do these instructions from another computer with a working internet connection • Login with Regular USC username/password • Type in MAC Address

Registering PC laptops • *On the laptop, you want to connect to the internet with* • Go to Start Menu • Click ‘Run’ • Type ‘cmd’, hit enter • In the black box, type ‘ipconfig /all’, hit enter • Look for the title ‘Wireless Network Connection’ • Write/Copy the number/letters to the right of the title ‘Physical Address’ • Note: Physical Address and MAC Address are the same thing

Registering MAC laptops • Click on the ‘Apple’ icon on the top left of the screen • Click on ‘System Preferences’ • Under Internet & Network category, Click on ‘Network’ • To the right of Airport ID is the MAC Address • If you do not see ‘Airport ID’, click configure near the bottom of the menu. • You should now see it and copy/write it down

  6. Website, Login, & Register • Follow these instructions from another COMPUTERwith a working internet connection (not your laptop) • Go to the Wireless Registration website • https://secweb.usc.edu/isd/nwdbmod/mod/wirelessregister.tmpl • Enter your USC username & password • Note to MBA Students: This is not the username you use to access your Marshall Account • Type in your MAC address that you wrote down and press ok • Your laptop is now registered with USC!!

  7. Adding Wireless Connection • PC (on your laptop) • After you’ve registered your mac address • Find wireless connection utility • Add SSID: USC • Encryption: WEP 64bit • Password: GOUSC • Note: We only support the Windows Wireless Manager for PC laptops

Adding Wireless Connection • MAC (on your laptop) • After you’ve registered your mac address • Click on ‘Wireless Radar’ icon on the top right of the screen • Click ‘Other’ • Under Network Name, type ‘USC’ • Under Wireless Security, choose ‘WEP’ • Under Wireless Password, type ‘GOUSC’ • Press OK

VPN Installation • Follow these instructions from another computer with a working internet connection and save the file to your thumb drive and then copy to your laptop’s desktop • Software Link • http://software.usc.edu/index.aspx • Login with your USC username & password • Download VPN (either PC or MAC) • Pay attention to what version you might need depending on your operating system/version

  10. VPN Configuration • Install VPN and follow the instructions • Click ‘New’ Icon • Connection Entry: USC Wireless • Host: vpn3k.usc.edu • Name: Wireless • Password: GoTrojan • Login with your Regular USC username/password
