WebQuest Created by: Bunantie Cain Grade: 10 / 4th form Subject: Human and Social Biology Topic: Circulation Date: April 28, 2013 Due date:May 4, 2013
Introduction • Circulation is a means by which substances are transported around the body • These substances can be: oxygen, carbon dioxide, heat, hormones and nutrients • Circulation differs among organisms: • Single cellular- do not need a specialized circulatory system • -multicellular - need a specialized circulatory system
Introduction Your teacher has just taught the topic circulation However, many of your classmates, who are athletes, were absent for the entire lessons on circulation due to their participation in Boys and Girls Championship. Your teacher has, therefore, task you with the responsibility of teaching those absentee students all that you have learnt about circulation and to present it to your classmates as one of your final assessment grades.
Task Create a PowerPoint Presentation that fully explains the following: What is circulation What are single cellular and multicellular organisms Why do multicellular organisms need a circulatory system and single cellular organisms do not need one How does single cellular and multicellular organism gets oxygen and removes wastes the components of the multicellular organisms circulatory system (blood, vessels, heart) Features of the: blood, vessels and heart
Process- The Game Plan Divide yourselves into three groups of threes (3). The roles are: Teachers (Presenters), teachers assistants and researchers. Teachers/ Presenters: each teacher will be responsible for: Explaining; what is circulation; why do organisms need a circulatory system Explaining: the features of the circulatory system, components of blood and the vessels Explaining; the features of the heart and the functions of each features Teachers assistants: each assistant will pair up with a specific teacher to aid the teacher for the in class presentation Researchers: each researcher will join with a teacher and teacher assistant Once you have been given your task, join go to your individual section to begin the task given
The Process- Group 1 Task- Explaining; what is circulation; why do organisms need a circulatory system Researcher: Define circulation: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_circulation • why do organisms need a circulatory system http://www.docstoc.com/docs/100565229/Circulatory-Respiratory-Lymphatic-Systems Teacher and Researcher: start a PowerPoint Presentation with all the necessary information gathered by the Researcher Teacher and Teacher assistant: Explains to the class all the information gathered by the researcher. The teacher will explain while the assistant moves around the class and ensures that the students are understanding and participating in the class.
The Process- Group 2 Task- Explaining: the features of the circulatory system, components of blood and the vessels Researcher: what are the components of the human circulatory system: http://www.docstoc.com/docs/129919484/Circulatory-System---Get-Now-PowerPoint • components of Blood • http://anthro.palomar.edu/blood/blood_components.htm • http://www.pennmedicine.org/health_info/bloodless/000209.html • http://quinte55ence.edublogs.org/transport-in-mammals/1124-blood-components-and-function/ • components of the vessels • http://faculty.stcc.edu/AandP/AP/AP2pages/Units18to20/vessels/blood.htm • http://yin-informationtechnology.blogspot.com/2011/01/1024x768-normal-0-false-false-false-en_632.html • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4HQDD-lGyE Teacher and Researcher: continues the PowerPoint Presentation with all the necessary information gathered by the Researcher Teacher and Teacher assistant: Explains to the class all the information gathered by the researcher. The teacher will explain while the assistant moves around the class and ensures that the students are understanding and participating in the class.
The Process- Group 3 Task- Explaining; the features of the heart and the functions of each features Researcher: the features of the heart and their functions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=VcE8ED56QSM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H04d3rJCLCE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0s-1MC1hcE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDPpTVR3Q34 Teacher and Researcher: finishes the PowerPoint Presentation with all the necessary information gathered by the Researcher Teacher and Teacher assistant: Explains to the class all the information gathered by the researcher.
