  4. 1 HEALTHY HOLIDAY TIP NO. 1 Let go of unrealistic expectations • Don’t expect the impossible from yourself or others • Can’t recreate the past • There is no perfect holiday

  5. 2 HEALTHY HOLIDAY TIP NO. 2 Try not to isolate yourself • Be aware of and respectful of sensitive triggers in yourself and others • Work to stay in the present • Keep busy • Invite others to get together • Be proactive, not reactive • Seek support • Give back: Volunteer

  6. 3 HEALTHY HOLIDAY TIP NO. 3 Re-evaluate your traditions • Traditions can provide comfort and stress • Are they too stressful? • Are they too time-consuming? • Do they sit make sense?

  7. 4 HEALTHY HOLIDAY TIP NO. 4 Don’t expect family issues to disappear • Reduce the time you plan to spend with those family members • Let go of past conflicts, resentments, practice forgiveness • Balance your needs with your family’s needs • Build structure into holiday plans for divorced and blended families

  8. 5 HEALTHY HOLIDAY TIP NO. 5 Don’t over-commit yourself • Eliminate stressful or unnecessary activities and chores • Separate the emotional from the practical • Learn to say “no” • Ask for help and delegate tasks • Nurture yourself
