Tone Of Voice. • How you’re talking. • The quality of a person's voice, e.g. conversational or nervous tone of voice. • A variation in the voice that expresses mood or emotion, e.g if you were happy you wouldn’t talking in an emotionless voice you would be talking excitedly. • If you wanted to put a point a cross you could change your tone by when at less important parts you could keep a calmer tone then you could put a more blunt voice across as you came to the important parts. Body Language. • The process of communicating nonverbally through gestures and movements, e.g moving your hands as you talk. • By using body language you can really engage your audience and it makes it more interesting as you move. • For example, to make a point that you are trying to make blunt you could put your hand forward as you talk to make it more interesting for the audience and to let them know you are making a important point. Active Engagement. • Active Engagement is keeping the audience involved in your ‘talk’ like looking at them whilst your talking so they feel involved. • By doing this it makes the audience believe they are talking to you and if you are specifically talking to one person by looking at them and showing you are actively engaged in their conversation it makes them feel better than if you was looking at someone else while they were talking. Correct Terminology. • Correct Terminology is using the correct words whilst speaking/writing. • By using the correct terminology it makes the audience understand more of what you are saying. • For example if you started to talk like ‘hey, by the end of this you will get my point’ it would be much better to say ‘Today I will hope to let you all understand what I am here for’. Techniques to engage an audience. • Use all of the before techniques and adapt it to your situation. • Body Language- Make it more interesting. • Tone Of Voice- Make it easier for you to make important points. • Active Engagement- To show you are attentive to your audience. • Correct Terminology- More understandable.
