  1. Employee Attributes

  2. Overview In this presentation we are going to talk about employee attributes and give some examples of each attribute. At the end, we will show how each attribute is valued within the work place.

  3. Punctuality An example of being punctual would be When at school, always be on time for your lessons and not stroll in the door 5 minutes late. If you were late 5 minutes for every school lesson in a day (if you had 5 different classes) that’s 25 minutes wasted and in a week that would be 125 minutes (2 hours and 5 minutes) which could have been used in a much more productive manner.

  4. Good Communication Skills An example of having good communication skills would be If you were a teacher within a school, you would need good communication skills as you need to be able to speak clearly, politely, professionally and you also need to be able to relate to people on all levels, ensuring that everyone understands the point your trying to get across.

  5. Independence An example of being independent would be If you were working on a new project and you needed to gather information about a new subject. Being independent would be by going off to the library, searching the internet and looking in newspapers for the information you require, instead of taking the easy route and just asking someone for the answers.

  6. Organised A good example of being organised would be When on a computer, keeping all documents saved in the correct files so its easy to locate them when necessary. For example if at college and you had various units, saving each task in the correct unit file would be good organisation. Also its good practise to keep a diary so you know what needs done and when. Checklists are also a good way to stay organised.

  7. Team Player An example of being a team player would be If you played for a football team, everybody has to work for each other on the pitch. This could be by passing the ball, encouraging, motivating and taking responsibility; collaborating together to achieve a common goal, which in this case would be to win the football match.

  8. Hardworking An example of being hardworking would be If you decided you wanted to run a marathon for charity would be an excellent example of hardworking. This is because you need to do a lot of training to be able to handle the physical demands. This would require doing a training programme ‘after hours’ so to speak when you come home from work and this can be very tiring, however it’s the will to succeed that keeps you going.

  9. Specific Attributes An example of having a specific attribute would be Professional athletes have specific attributes which make them good at what they do. Take Alan Shearer for example, he was fit, could score goals, could header a ball accurately, could pass and was loyal. That made him perfect for his role as a striker for Newcastle United. However, attributes don’t always have to be skills, they can come in the form of knowledge and experience.

  10. Leadership Skills A example of demonstrating leadership skills would be If you were the captain of a football team, would have to show you were the leader. This is by setting examples for everyone else to follow; by conducting yourself in the right manner on and off the pitch, training hard everyday, motivating the rest of the team, encouraging the team and taking charge of demanding situations and gaining the respect of your team mates.
