  3. As a child Damon was ostracized by other kids because of a severe physical disability called club foot, which is a common birth defect in newborns worldwide. It affects males more than females. Home

  4. Club foot is a condition in which the foot or feet affected is turned inward and upward, causing the child to walk on the side or top of his foot. There are several kinds ranging from most severe to mild. More Info

  5. Equinovarus is considered the most severe, where the child walks on the ball side top of the foot. Calcareous is moderate, the child walks on the heel and Metatarsus is where the foot is turns inwardly. Home

  6. Club foot affects 150,000 children yearly. Every 3 minutes a child is born with this disability. No one knows the exact cause of club foot, except that genetics and environmental factors play a major roll. More Info

  7. To treat club feet the child has to wear leg braces until he or she is about five years old, orthopedic shoes and endure several surgeries before the disability is corrected. The survival rate is best if treated early. If left untreated it can cause death. Home
