  1. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Whose blessings starting by the name of almighty god, who has created me and the whole universe directed me for the accomplishment of this dissertation. First of all, with deepest from the core of my heart, I take this opportunity to thank my honorable teachers and the principal-in charge of Bangladesh college of leather technology, Prof. Dr. Md. Fazlul karim(Additional charge) for offering me the chance to undertake such a useful and interesting project in my project work. I would like to express my deepest sense of gratitude, sincere appreciation and profound indebtedness to my highly honorable guide teacher Noor Mohammad, Lecturer (tech), Department of Footwear Technology, Bangladesh College of leather technology for providing me with valuable insights, necessary supplements and total support from the first day.   2. NAME OF MY PROJECT WORK STUDIES ON PU&NEOPRENE ADHESIVE FOR SOLE BONDING OF PVC SOLE WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF UPPER MATERIALS

  3. AIM OF MY PROJECT WORK • LEARN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT PU AND NEOPRENE ADHESIVE. • TESTING OF PVC SOLE BONDING • LEARN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT BONDING OF DEFFERENT TYPES OF UPPER WITH PVC SOLING • HOW TO INCREASE LONGIBILITY OF FOOTWEAR.

  4. IDEAL PROPERTIES OF ADHESIVE 1.High cohesive strength. 2. High adhesive strength with wide range of materials. 3. High resistance to creep up to 60°C at least, but capable of heat activation at higher temperature.PU80°C-90°C 4. Bond strength should not be reduces by grease, plasticizer, perspiration water or other substances to which it might normally be exposed. 5.High resistance to ageing. 6.High flexibility and resistance to flex cracking. 7. Easily applicable by hand or machine.

PROPERTIES OF PU ADHESIVE • Flammable. • Superior plasticizer and grease or oil resistance. • Limited cold tack life. • Strong bond with most materials. • Difficult to remove. • More compatible with wider of material than neoprene. • High green strength but at least 48 hours needed to reach full strength.

  6. PROPERTIES OF NEOPRENE ADHESIVE • 1. Generally flammable. • 2. High strength bond. • 3. Good grab. • 4. Long tacky life. • 5. Flexible film. • 6. Easy handling. • 7. Limited plasticizer resistance.

  7. PROPERTIES OF PVC ('vinyl') 'Plastic' vinyl smell familiar to most people. E relatively heavy material in solid form. Soft grades can feel rubbery, harder grades not. Fairly glossy, shiny surface. Tends to wear very smooth. Not found with midsoles in other materials but sometimes combined with a leather forepart in dress shoes. All-molded boots such as Wellingtons are very often PVC. Cellular versions have reduced weight but same smell. They may have a solid skin with an irregular cell structure, or a uniform cell structure with a finely speckled mall surface.

  11. CONCLUSION • According to the test I have found good result from the semi aniline finish (2 specimens). The standard test result for PVC sole bonding is 5N/mm. Semi aniline (2 specimens) is nearer to this standard value. So it is clear to me that this type of bonding method for (2 specimens) upper material (Semi-aniline) is good for PVC sole bonding. It should carry in mind that this type of good result only achievable when the standard bonding method is followed.
