Adiabatic Processes • MEANS A CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE WITHOUT THE ADDITION OR REMOVAL OF HEAT • TEMPERATURE CHANGES DUE TO EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF AIR • WHEN AIR EXPANDS IT COOLS WHEN IT IS COMPRESSED IT HEATS UP • Remember the NORMAL LAPSE RATE (6.4°C/1000m) • Also have the • Dry adiabatic lapse rate (DAR) • 10°C/1000m • Moist adiabatic lapse rate (MAR) • 6°C/1000m
