Today’s Objectives Main Objective: Phase 1 site teams engage in best practice sharing, learning, and action planning together as a cohort • Share progress and increase solidarity within site teams (composed of school day and OST staff), as well as across the Boston PSELI network • Expand professional knowledge and expertise in SEL implementation through learning opportunities • Develop shared goals, strengthen site SEL Action Plans, and determine next steps based on evidence of current progress in school day and out-of-school-time

PSELI Boston: Our Network • Our Mission: To develop a high-quality, seamless social and emotional experience for Boston students throughout the entire learning day. • Year 2 Focus: Building adult capacity to facilitate SEL • Learn SEL • Deep dive on “Interpersonal Skills” • Integrate SEL into practice • Align practice across the leaning day (School & OST)

PSELI Boston Network - Year 2 So Far… 9/27 PSELI Boston Inaugural Convening • Identify the role and benefit of partnership around SEL in PSELI • SEL Leadership Teaming at Sites – School Staff with OST Program Partners • Understand the purpose of PSELI data in supporting SEL Continuous Improvement as a Site • Learn about the supports that are available to you as a PSELI Site • Experience SEL as a Site Team 11/13-15 Wallace PSELI Learning Community Convening • Cross-city practice sharing and learning • Connection as a PSELI Boston Cohort

Increase and empower student voice • Help students understand PSELI • Allow students to help define the critical elements of SEL Implement SEL with an equity lens • Culture and climate • Integration of CLSP • Look for trends at the systems level related to CLSP and Equity across PSELI phase 1 sites and partner site teams and their SEL teams so that they can work together and learn from one another • Build cultural competency of teachers (and youth workers) Share knowledge and best practices • Create informal opportunities for sites to connect • Create and use knowledge sharing tools (ie. website, etc) Provide professional development • Build common understanding and language • Integration of SEL into classroom and OST practices   Build and sustain an inclusive collaboration structure • Regular meetings between OST and school teams • Regular meeting of all OST partners and all school teams • Create common goals; accountability to meet them • Create a shared vision • Communications between OST/school partners • Common workplans; shared tools Clarify roles, responsibilities and expectations • Define everyone’s role (individually and organizationally) • Identify and share everyone’s areas of strength and how they can help • Clarify how everyone fits together • Define the types of supports that are available • Changing language from School/OST to “sites” • Create only systems and structures that are needed - don’t overcomplicate things Create a Comprehensive Communications structure • Regular communications and updates up and down, across sites • Provide more direction on what schools should be doing • Provide more direction on what is required vs. what can be tailored by site • Communications about available resources ($, people and tools) • Transparency about how funding is spent, etc. • Create simplified materials to help stakeholders understand PSELI • Create a consistent feedback loop so the systems team can continuously improve communications with sites
