  1. “Funding the Future”2007 and beyond

  2. What is theERF? • We are the Education and Research Foundation for the SNM. • Our mission is to advance excellence in healthcare through education & research in Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging by provision of grants and awards.

  3. How does ERF fit into the SNM? • We are the fundraising arm of the SNM. • Our job is to raise money in support of education and research. • Our current focus is the “Bench to Bedside” campaign in support of the • newly re-branded SNM.

  4. Core Purpose: To improve health care by advancing molecular imaging and therapy • Vision: SNM will be the leader in advancing and unifying molecular imaging and therapy …SNM is bringing molecular imaging into the future of patient care

  5. ERF’s Goals • Raise 100,000/yr for the next five years from membership in support of the “Bench to Bedside” molecular imaging campaign. (we have raised $136,241 this year) • Continue to offer you grants, awards, & scholarships (we fund 30 Paul Cole scholarships/year) • Fund new and innovative programs to support the entire membership and keep pace with molecular imaging’s future. (web based education, road shows, etc..)

  6. Molecular Imaging Campaign Goals The goal of the Bench to Bedside Molecular Imaging Campaign is to ensure the growth and future of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging through education, research, outreach, drug development, and translation of research into clinical practice that improves patient care.

  7. Research Funding Economics Regulatory Education Clinical Trials Challenges Ahead We must be able to translate today’s molecular imaging research into tomorrow’s clinical practice. (Bench to Bedside) Current Challenges in Nuclear Medicine

  8. Challenges Ahead We must provide for the future while still funding current initiatives. We must (as Chapter Members) participate in this important Campaign!

  9. Where does the money come from? • Industry – they believe in the vision ($4,140,000 to date) • Individual donors – You! (Majority of individual MI Campaign giving is from Leadership) • Endowments • Estate bequeaths

  10. What are we currently doing? • funding Paul Cole scholarships (30/yr) (we donate $4000 and give away $30,000) • giving recognition awards • funding pilot research grants • providing abstract awards • providing travel scholarships

  11. 12. How can you be a part of the giving? • Make a contribution to the ERF today – it can be large or small. Our goal is to increase participation. The amount you give is not as important as the fact that you give. • Pledge to give an annual contribution over the next 4-5 years to the Bench to Bedside campaign • Remember us in your estate planning

  13. What could we do with the money? • Develop an online curriculum for molecular imaging • Fund a speaker’s bureau • Develop workshops, road shows, and web based education • Continue to fund the scholarships, grants, and awards currently available

  14. What we would like… • A greater % of the general membership to contribute to the ERF. (currently only 3% of members give) Let’s challenge our leadership, if they increase participation by 7%, then so will we. • Everyone to experience the joy of giving back to a profession that has given them so much • For members to join with industry in funding the future of the profession.

  15. What we don’t expect… • A large donation (although that would be nice; we simply want your participation – it speaks volumes!) • A large lump sum cash contribution (however, we wouldn’t turn it down) • For your contribution to be a financial burden

  16. How you can contribute? • Pick up the envelope on your chair and make a donation today! • Fill out a pledge sheet to make an annual contribution over 4-5 years ( be a part of our donor honor roll) • Contact Teri Pinkham at the SNM Development Office at 703-326-1194 or visit our web site atwww.snmerf.org
