  1. We all want peace in this world – between nations, in families, in our neighborhoods and even in our own lives. • When there is peace, stress and turmoil are minimized. • But the greatest peace is peace with God.

  3. The Peace of God • Peace - εἰρήνη, eirene • A state of tranquility and calmness. Harmony and concord • A relationship with God can provide this for us.

  4. The Peace of God • God – the source of true peace • He is called the God of peace – Rom. 16:20Phil. 4:9, “The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”1 Thess. 5:23, 1 Cor. 14:33

  5. The Peace of God • The peace of God – that which He has done to make our relationship with Him possible.Eph. 4:16 –enmity put to death. • And the promises He has made to be with us if we serve Him. Because He has made His home with us – John 14:23

  6. The Peace of God • Peace WITH God – the calmness we enjoy within because we are pleasing to Him. Our lives are in harmony with His will and thus we have real hope and relationship.

  7. The Peace of God • The peace WITH God – “When peace like a river attendeth my way. When sorrows like sea billows roll. Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, ‘It is well, It is well with my soul.’” (H. G. Stafford)

The Peace of God • Phil. 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”John 17:27, Col. 3:15

  9. The Peace of God • Eph. 2:14-18, Jesus is our peace because He has broken down the wall and given us access to the Father.

  10. The Peace of God • The peace of God does NOT mean the absence of conflict! • Matt. 10:34, Rom. 5:3-5Cf. Acts 16:25 – Paul and Silas,7:54-60 – Stephen • A peace that says no matter what the world does to us, it cannot touch our souls or rob us of Him

  11. How to obtain this peace • By purifying your hearts and minds • Romans 8:6 • Colossians 3:15 “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.”

  12. How to obtain this peace • By seeking it • 1 Pet. 3:10-12 • Do we crave peace with God? • Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers…”

  13. How to obtain this peace • By learning to trust God • Prov. 3:5-6 • Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep him in perfect peace…” • 2 Cor. 1:9-10 • Rom. 8:28, 37-39

How to obtain this peace • By not worrying • Matt. 6:25-34 • Phil. 4:6,7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

  15. How to obtain this peace • Through self-acceptance • Rom. 12:3 • 1 Cor. 15:10, “By the grace of God I am what I am” • Matt. 25:15, according to your ability.

  17. How to obtain this peace • Through keeping His word • Eph. 6:15,the gospel of peace • Psa. 119:165 • Phil. 4:8-9, “…These do and the God of peace will be with you.”

  18. How to obtain this peace • Through prayer • Phil. 4:6,7, Be anxious for nothing… • James 5:16 • 1 Tim. 2:1-2, praying for others, including kings

  19. How to obtain this peace • Seek peace with your brethren • Mark 9:50, Have peace with one another • Romans 14:19, pursue peace and edification • We need unity • We need each other for strength.

  20. How to obtain this peace • Live in peace • Matt. 5:19, be a peacemaker • 2 Cor. 13:11, “Live in peace” • Heb. 12:14, “Pursue peace with all people… • 1 Thess. 4:11-12, Don’t meddle in affairs of others.
