  2. Act 1, Scene 1 Summary: Three witches plot with ill intentions to meet up with Macbeth. Key Lines 10-11: “Fair is foul and foul is fair. Hover through the fog and filthy air.” Literary Devices Used Here: Alliteration, Metaphor, Foreshadowing and Rhyming Couplet

  3. Act 1 Scene 2 Captain explains the king the detail of the battle when Machbeth stops the traitor to protect the king. Key lines 16-24: For brave Machbeth-well he deserves that name Disdaining Fortune, with his brandished steel, Which smoked with bloody execution, Like a valor’s minion carved out his passage Till he faced the slave; Which nev’r shook hands, nor bade farewell to him Till he unseamed him from the nave to th’ chops, And fix'd his head upon our battlements

  4. Act 1 : Scene 3 Summary : Cawdor dies and the witches prophecy to Macbeth who he will become, as the king. Key lines: lines 50-51 “All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be King hereafter!

  5. Act 1: Scene 4 Summary: The king is talking about who will become the Thane of Cawdor, and the next king. In honor of protecting him, the king gives Macbeth the title as Thane of Cawdor. Key lines: lines 1-2 Is execution done on Cawdor? lines 23-27

  6. Act I Scene 5 Summary: Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to kill the King so that he will be able to take the thrown. Key Lines: 15-16 “What thou art promised. Yet do I fear thy nature” “It is too full o'th milk of human kindness.”

  7. Act 1 Scene 6 Summary: King Duncan comes to Macbeth’s home to honor him. Key Lines 21-22: “We coursed him at the heels, and had a purpose To be his purveyor: but he rides well.”

  8. ACT 1 SCENE 7 Macbeth and his wife plan to kill King Duncan, the only way to gain the position of king.

  9. Act 2 Scene 1 Summery: Banquo has a dream about the three witches and Macbeth has a vision of a bloody darger. Important Lines: 20-21- “ I dreamed last night of the three weird sisters…” 33-35, 60-61

  10. Key Lines: 10-13, 53-57, 5-7, 22-25, 35-36 Act 2 scene 2 Summary:Lady Macbeth and Macbeth discuss their plan and is hesitant to commit the murder and once it is done Macbeth is shaken up and forgets to return the dagger to the servants room,this angers Lady Macbeth and she does it herself.

  11. Act 2 Scene 3 Summary: Everyone finds out the king is dead. The night of the murder was weird. Duncan’s sons run away. Important Lines:(31-37),(50-57),(60-61),(96)

  12. Act 2 scene 4 Macduff and the old man discuss what happened to the king and why it is suspicious that the sons ran away. Lines (24-27) lines (1-13) (24-27) “Malcolm and Donalbin,the king’s two sons are stol’n away and fled, which puts them upon the suspicion of the deed.”

  13. Act 3 Scene: 1 Summary: Macbeth talks with Banquo to find out where he’s going and then Macbeth talks to three murderers about killing Banquo and his son. Key Lines: 75-140 “Both of you know Banquo was your enemy” “We shall my lord perform what you command us”

  14. Act 3 Scene 2 Summary: Macbeth is fearful of losing his position as king and hatches a plan to slay his counterparts; Banquo and Fleance, by cover of night Lines: 13-14 “ we have scorched the snake, not killed it”

  15. Act 3, scene 3 Summary: Banquo is killed by the three murderers, but Fleance escapes. Key Lines: 17, 19, and 21 “O, treachery! Fly good Fleance, fly, fly, fly!” “There’s but one down; the son fled.” “Well, let’s away and say how much is done.”

Act 3, Scene 4 Key lines: (54-69, 10-38) “You shall offend him and extend his passion.Feed,and regard him not-Are you a man?” “My lord, his throat is cut, that i did for him.” Literary terms: Ceasura Summary:The banquet is about to begin when the murders tell Macbeth that Banquo is dead but his son escaped, and Macbeth is furious. During the banquet Macbeth sees Banquo’s ghost sitting in his chair, but then lady macbeth tells everyone to calm down because he has been doing this since his youth.

  17. Act 3 Scene 5 Hecate is upset with her involvement in the plan with Macbeth. She tells the witches to follow her instructions for when Macbeth comes back the second time. Key Lines: 28-29 “As by strength of their illusion shall draw him on to his confusion.”

  18. Summary: Lennox and Lord are discussing how Macbeth’s ruling isn’t the best and they are trying to find Malcolm to take the position he was left. • Key Lines: 24-39 Act 3 Scene 6

  19. ACT 4, SCENE 1 Summary: The witches plan to meet with Macbeth and give him more predictions; they show him images and then Macbeth plans to kill Macduff. Key lines: “Beware the thane of Fife…” (line 72) “The pow’r of man, for none of women born…”(line 80) “Macbeth shall never be vanquished…”(lines 92-94) “...The castle of Macbeth I will surprised” (lines 147-148)

  20. Act 4 Scene 2 The messenger delivers the news about danger approaching soon and Lady Macduff ends up running off, but her son doesn't make it and gets killed. Key Lines: 64-65 “I doubt some danger does approach you nearly.” Paul M, Tekedrian V, Joseph E

  21. Conner, Jesse, Alexis Act 4 Scene 3 Summary: Macduff has come to England in an attempt to ally himself with Malcolm, King Duncan’s older son and rightful heir to the Scottish crown. Key Lines: 204-207, 236-240 “This time goes manly. Come, go we to the King. Our power is ready; Our lack is nothing but our leave…” (236-238)

  22. Act 5 Scene 1 Summary: Lady Macbeth is washing blood off her hands in her sleep, when a gentlewoman and the doctor hear lady Macbeth talk about the crimes her and her husband committed. Riley, Jose, and Austin Key Lines:32-42“Out, damned spot! Ou,t I say! One: two: why, then ’tis time to do ’t.

  23. Act 5 Scene 2 Summary: The Scottish noblemen are teaming up with the entire English army to rebel against Macbeth. Key lines: 26-30 Quote: “To dew the sovereign flower and drown the weeds make we our march towards Birnam. Genesis, Amanda, and Ryan

  24. Act 5 scene 3 Lines/ 58-60 ,6-7,40-42 Seyton and the doctor assist King Macbeth as he prepares to go into battle, fearless of death.

  25. Act 5: Scene 4 Kevin, Camille, Anthony Key Sentence: The soldiers from King of England decide that each one of them should cut a bough of the forest and carry it in front of Macbeth’s castle to disguise them. Important Lines: 4-13 “Let every soldier hew him down a bough and bear’t before him. Thereby shall we shadow the numbers of our host...”

  26. Act 5 scene 5 Summary: The messenger comes to Macbeth and tells him that his wife has passed away, Macbeth then rants about how it was a bad time for her to die because he was already preoccupied with other urgent matters. Key lines: line 16, line 17-18 line 16 : “the Queen my, lord is dead”

  27. Act 5 Scene 6 Gabriela & Ethan & Eli -Malcolm,Siward,and, Macduff advanced toward Dunsinane Castle where they plan to kill Macbeth. Lines: 9 and 10 Macduff: Make all our trumpets speak; give them all breath, Those clamorous harbingers of blood and death.

  28. Act 5 Scene 7 Sentence: Young Siward confronts Macbeth, calling him a repulsive tyrant, and battle until Young Siward is killed while Macduff and Siward, the father, enter the castle. Key Lines: pg. 348 lines 10-11 By: Michelle Lopez and April Knight

  29. ACT 5 SCENE 8 Macbeth gets his head cut off and dies on the battlefield and after people celebrate. Key Lines #53-55 “He’s worth no more; they say he parted and paid his score; and so God be with him! Here comes newer comfort.”
