  3. TS&L Expectations What other important element is missing? TS&L Checklist

  4. TS&L Expectations How many alternates should be considered? 3 – Including the selected type

  5. TS&L Expectations What kind of alternates can/should be considered? ABC vs. Conventional Single Span vs. Multi-span Steel vs. Concrete Spliced / PT Precast vs. Cast-in-Place A 1010 Steel Spread Footings vs. Piles Precast Decks Bridge vs. Culvert Precast caps

  7. TS&L Expectations BDDM 1.1.2.11(3) lists a general outline of possible discussion items. The word “possible” in the above does not really capture the expectation. The wording needs to be changed to say something like, “… a general outline of discussion items. Include all items that apply.”

  8. TS&L Expectations Include all applicable items in the list plus: Discussion of alternate types considered or reasons why alternates were not considered. • Discussion of any unusual design elements, such as: • Sheet pile abutments • Aesthetic treatments • Experimental features • Special features required by other agencies

  9. TS&L Expectations Questions / Comments ? A draft BDDM update will be prepared for the April 2012 update.
