Join us at the Victoria Detector R&D meeting where we will explore pressing topics in calorimetry and detector technology. Highlights include advancements in scintillator and crystal designs, DAQ simulation challenges, and the transition from SIO to LCIO formats. We aim to optimize detector performance through various simulations and configurations, addressing unique geometries and parameter adjustments. This meeting will also feature discussions on upcoming collaborative efforts and organization for R&D, providing a platform for researchers to share insights and progress.

Simulations (Dhiman) • more realistic geometry: a. Non-projective in LCDG4. It exists as a fork (separate executable from the standard LCDG4). Need to extend the XML DTD to allow merger. Scheme understood and accepted at the ANL workshop, awaiting implementation. Should happen well before Victoria. b. Non-cylindrical volumes. Also requires extension of the XML DTD. Should be straightforward, but scheme has yet to be thought out. Will have to wait until a. is completed. Not likely to happen before Victoria. • DAQ simulation - modeling of cross-talk, electronic noise, inefficiencies, digitization etc. NIU has just started on this, and hopes to produce a preliminary version soon, but probably not before Victoria. • Switching from sio to lcio. LCS (again a detour from LCDG4 - all are planned to be merged back together) produces lcio, and analysis templates exist - just the sio-based algorithms need to be ported to work with lcio. This is well underway - one of the major achievements at ANL, should mature fairly soon. • Simulation of forward calorimeters (it is probably better to discuss this under forward calorimetry)
