  2. Why do we classify things into groups? • It makes things easier to identify and describe • Important for: • Quarantine • Medicine • Conservation • Personal safety

  3. The Classification System • The classification system we use is hierarchical • At the beginning of this system organisms have little in common. • The further you move through the system the more closely related organisms become.
