Embracing Sanctification: Growing in Righteous Judgment Among the Saints

Explore the profound calling of being sanctified and set apart as chosen vessels for God. This guide emphasizes the importance of spiritual growth, righteous judgment, and brotherly resolutions within the church community. Drawing from biblical principles, it highlights the necessity for disciples to gain wisdom and knowledge to handle internal matters rightly, rather than turning to worldly courts. Saints are called to restore one another in love and uphold a standard of genuine repentance, fostering a supportive environment that reflects Christ's love.

  1. Sanctified people: • Being different and living differently • Chosen vessels for the Master • Spiritual sanctuary for God • Fruit of genuine repentance • Sacred disassociation from the world

  2. Sanctified people: Spiritual Judges Exercising Brotherly Resolutions

  3. DISCIPLES ARE EXPECTED TO GROW IN WISDOM TO BE ABLE TO JUDGE RIGHTEOUSLY. • Diligently add knowledge (2 Peter 1:5). • Become skilled in the word (Hebrews 5:14). • Judge with righteous judgment (John 7:24). • Personal application first (Matthew 7:1-5). • Restore brethren in sin (Gal. 6:1).

  4. Internal affairs of the con-gregation are to be handled by the saints. • 1 Corinthians 5:9 – 6:11 • Church in Corinth neglected to discipline a brother practicing sin (chapter 5). • Judge within the body of Christ.

  5. Internal affairs of the con-gregation are to be handled by the saints. • Saints ought to be able to judge in regard to personal matters among brethren (1 Cor. 6:1-6). • Do not go to civil courts to resolve brotherly problems. • Saints ought to be qualified to handle brotherly resolutions (Matthew 18:15-17).

  6. Saints should eradicate the attitude that seeks to injure a brother. • Christians were being un-Christ-like by taking brethren in Christ to court of law (6:7-11). • Their lawsuits were reflections of ungodliness (Rom. 13:10; Gal. 6:10). • They were wronging and robbing brothers in matters of daily life. • This sinful attitude and treatment are unrighteous.
