  1. How to Get Shoot Permits for Filming in Dubai Fantastic! So, you decided to shoot in Dubai. Given the numerous locations it has to sell you made a wise choice. Shooting at any venue requires due diligence to make sure there are no hassles on the shooting day. There are a couple of important things to keep in mind regarding licenses, fees and regulations. 1. Shooting Permits by DFTC Shooting permits are required for all public, government and private property audio and visual media productions. Any person wishing to shoot in Dubai should appoint a United Arab Emirates (UAE)-licensed production company to obtain a shooting permit for them. (DFTC), The Dubai Film and TV Commission is the only approved body in Dubai to issue shooting permits, and it takes up to 5 working days to award the same for non-scripted shoots. Typically, the published ones take up to 25 days. Before you fly to Dubai, all the permits must be granted as that is the only way to get your equipment through the airport. 2. Application Processing Fee This is the first thing to pay when demanding a shoot in Dubai. It is an AED 500 processing fee which is non-refundable. A single application requires multi-day and location requests for permits. 3. Location Fees Public Locations charge up to AED 2,500 for a 3-day commercial shoot while the same fee will grant you a 7-day video permit and 14-day still permit for corporate content. Aerial shots do not cost a penny. Private and Semi-Government Locations bill AED 25,000 average per day. Depending on demand and the production specifications the final fee can differ. Such locations reserve

  2. the right to charge any additional fees, such as cleaning or protection, incurred by the venue during filming. In the case that you shoot an interview or a b-roll at the Dubai office of your Client, no location charges would apply. 4. Permit Handling Charge Movie permits in Dubai can only be issued by a local production company, which charges the application fee. This could vary from enterprise to enterprise and ranges from AED 500 to AED 3000. 5. Location Managers Company regulations require a location manager to be on-site every day of the Dubai shooting. This is to secure both the business and the production company in the UAE. In the event that any regulatory issues occur, it is not your business that will be responsible, but rather the UAE approved company. 6. Fines Violating any of the above or not hiring a reputable production company which will direct you through all the necessary permits could cost you a fine of up to AED 500,000 or even a prison sentence. So be sure to pick the right one. At Joy Films, we are always ready to take your inquiry and send you all the information and advice you need about permits and authorisation for the venue.
