NAIC Recommendation • NARFE Information Technology Advisory Committee (NIAC) • Formed January, 2011 • Final Report Delivered July 1,2011 • Presentation at National Executive Board Meeting on July 20, 2011 • CAB grew out of a recommendation of the NAIC report • CAB started meeting in December, 2011. • CAB can be viewed as picking up where the NAIC left off Version 0.2

Change Management • CAB solicits and manage proposals for change to IT • Evaluates proposed changes • Makes recommendations to headquarters • Creates a transparent process – see the CAB Website • Process • Submit change requests directly to CAB Member or via Website • Requests added to CAB blog for comments by CAB members • Requests discussed at CAB meeting • When a decision is made the category is changed on the blog from “Proposal – Pending” to “Proposal – Final” Version 0.2

CAB Charter - 2012 • Document CAB functions • “The overall objective of the CAB is to make recommendations that increase the operational efficiency and usefulness of the NARFE IT infrastructure and management” • The charter defined Eleven Goals with Twenty-two Objectives • A Separate Document Identified Deliverables • The amount of work will require years • We will review the objectives and deliverables periodically Version 0.2

Position Codes 2012 • Use of the F7 and F7A by National • Used to determine access to data • Used to send information from national to specific members • Documentation of Positions on F7 & F7A • Provide enough information to help people filling out the forms • Not intended to replace local by-laws • Recommend Updating the list of Positions on F7 & F7A • Remove positions that need neither access nor receive information • Add positions that have become common in chapters and federations that need access Version 0.2

  17. The CAB Home Page The “CAB Blog” will be shown later. “Contact CAB Members” allows you to send an email. This is how you can make requests to changes the IT. “Other Important Links” contains documents used by the CAB. Version 0.2

As an example, clicking on the “CAB Meeting” category will give you a series of short blogs about each CAB meeting while hiding the other blogs entries Version 0.2
